Hi.
Specsavers online do Ciba Focus Daillies for £59. Either this is incredibly cheap in comparison to others suggestions in this thread or I am missing something obvious.

Thanks Sheel, although Specsavers shave a little off prices quoted so far in this thread.
I have only just started wearing contacts so would like to find the cheapest, reputable dealer.
Thanks for your help.

My contacts from Specsavers costs me £12.00 pm for monthly disposables including cleaning products and delivered to my door, which I've always thought quite reasonable, but I'll be checking out Costco this afternoon to see if I can get cheaper. Thanks for all the advice.0

I'd just like to thank Darren Lewington for his post. I'd read the mse article about lenses and felt that I couldn't really take it up because I wear purevision extended wear lenses and have had it impressed upon me by my optician that ongoing care is essential (a view I concur with). Apart from cost I've been very happy with Boots, the only listed aftercare package optician for my locale was Chapmans and several members of my family (me incl have had slip-ups and wrangles with them in the past)
Using Darren's post as a model I told Boots that I'd really like to use them for aftercare and they were fine about it, even telling me the best time to cancel, and what to do in order to prepare (I also want an option of using disposables, so need to trial with Boots so they can give a legal prescription on those as well).Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -
Hi
It was after I read the newsletter about cheap lenses that I cancelled my order at my specsavers branch and re-ordered at specsavers online and saved my self nearly £14! The price for 3 months of daily disposables was £59.88 free postage and they fit through the letter box - fantastic!
Thank you! ;DKeep smiling it helps you live longer & people smile back!0 -
If you don't mind buying your lenses from the US there is a price comparison website that is very good - https://www.lensprice.com (don't know how to make this a hyperlink)
You select your brand and it provides a huge list of different sellers and prices. The actual lenses are amazingly cheap and it's the shipping that costs more. I normlly email the 3 cheapest suppliers and get them to confirm how much it will cost including the shipping to UK. It's normally cheaper than postoptics (who I used to use) especially with the good exchange rate.
I've never had to pay a customs fee either.
Failing that I did use postoptics for years and they are great.
Also some opticians will now price match the internet prices.
For any of these methods you must be able to provide a contact lens prescription that is less than one year old.
It is always advisable to tell your optician up front that you will require your lens prescription to take away with you as once had an optician who told me there would be a £70 surcharge for my prescription so I walked out!MS Stalwart. You have probably just been lucky not to get caught.
If you get caught then your lenses may be confiscated and you could lose the money completely.
You won't have any comeback.0 -
Wht are the customs regulations for buying abroad.
I often buy DVds and CDs as well as contact lenses from US sites and as a law-abiding citizen i would quite like to find out when you should have a customs charge and when you shouldn't - is there a website i can look at?MS Stalwart.
