I use Vision direct in the US. As the pound is strong at the moment against the dollar I find that this has worked out cheaper than purchasing then from the UK sites. You have to pay the custom fee but this is less than £10, so if you buy in bulk this is a good deal.

Of course when the exchange rate changes you need to continue to check the UK sites

For several years I bought my Toric lenses and solutions from Postoptics, I only stopped when an eye infection (probably caused by swimming with my lenses in) made me rethink the whether or not I should continue to wear lenses at all. I had a complex prescrition, one lense for short sightedness, one for long sightedness, plus an astigmatism, I paid the local optician for my prescription. Postoptics at that time was the best deal I could find for my lenses and solutions. Whether you use the internet or a local optician it is important to ensure that your eye care arrangements are correct, I spent some time telling a colleague at work about the savings that she could make by buying her lenses using the internet, she too had an astigmatism. I printed some pages off a website and took them in to show her, through that she discovered that her optician had not prescribed Toric lenses for her, she contacted the optician straight away and he arranged to see her immediately, he had indeed made an error in her prescription and for 6 months she had been wearing the wrong type on lenses resulting in damage to her eyeball!
After 16 months of not wearing lenses I think that I will go for a contact lense consultation, and as I am a Costco member I guess I will check them out for price.

Costco are very reasonable even after the joining fee.

You can buy just one box of lenses at a time (if you're lucky enough to have the same prescription in both eyes!) from https://www.contactlenses.co.uk. Delivery is free, and if you order before 3.00pm, they hit the doormat the following morning. They tend to come in around the same price as Specsavers etc. I'm extremely impressed by them. They also seem to be the only internet company that do daily coloured lenses.

I got a £5 off voucher from CD-Wow with my last CD order. Go to https://www.getlenses.com/cdwow and quote special code CDW101 at the checkout.

Their website also guarantees to match any other UK web price. Postoptics were offering my extended wear Purevision lenses at £166 for 12 months' supply, as opposed to the £183 on the getlenses.com site, so I phoned the freephone number. The very helpful girl immediately agreed to match the lower price, but said she could not honour the £5 off as well, but would include a spare pair of lenses and travel solution.

I still have aftercare at Boots every six months, for which they charge £30 (but you do get advantage points!!)

Even allowing for 2 lots of aftercare and an annual sight test, I'm only paying £18.50 per month, instead of the £30 that Boots used to charge me for exactly the same service and product!!

I buy mine from https://www.lensway.com/uk. I buy J&J 1 Day and they charge £56 (+ £3.50 delivery) for a 3 month supply compared to £99 from Postoptics. Devliery is excellent and no customs charges.

Please beware of buying contact lenses from Internet sites whose base is in the USA. I recently bought contact lenses from Vision Direct and although they have a .co.uk address they actually send the lenses from the US. The price was fantastic but when they arrived I was lumbered with a £17 customs and handling charge at the post office - not so cheap after all! Make sure you check where the lenses are coming from before you buy! I have since changed to a uk-based online supplier and am saving a fortune!
