We will be having the wedding breakfast inside, there is a courtyard outside for the ceremony, and then we go in for the breakfast, they put the tables and chairs back out so we can go back oIutside and sit. I guess though that if you wanted an outside breakfast, they could do it for a smaller number.

There is a place near Faversham called Ephraim Gardens, pretty sure they do outside weddings, as do the Turkey Mill near Maidstone, and there is a place in Sittingbourne too I am sure? Let me go off and see what links I have kept x

turkey mill are too expensive plus they are changing to a new building so you will now be inside looking out at the gardens. i sound so fussy i am not really :o:o

We're having palm trees, salsa and ceviche, which is pretty unusual for the UK!

salsa and palm trees sound great! :T

12th August...heres hoping for a bit of sunshine, but you can never tell really can you? I keep on telling me that inside is just as nice, just in case...not sure if I believe it yet though!!

Have you got anyone who can help you with food, or if you save on venue hire, can you get someone in to do the food? That is really disappointing about the vegetarian option, you wouldn't think it's that hard to do these days! x

i thought vegetarian food would be fine but 99% of places have been utterly useless!! no it would just be me doing the food as ALL my family and friends are 200 miles away. this also means we are not sure who will definitely come so do not want to pay a hefty venue fee and then the guest numbers diminish

i hope you have great weather. my sibling was married last august and we had dire weather but it stopped for half an hour and they got married outside in a lovely garden :)

this is the one other place i really have liked right from the start and once again point of contact was very friendly. but it is in london so not the sort of thing i thought i would want but it looks amazing has a courtyard garden and lovely food options. guest numbers are very limited though but it is still a contender

It looks lovely, esp for central London. If you aren't sure who will come along, that might be a good option as it has limited numbers.

Are you not keen on going up there to get married then? Or do any of the family have a garden you could borrow so then they could help with food? I read about one wedding where everyone brought a dish along, great fun and everyone feels like a part of the day. You would have to find somewhere for the ceremony though. It is hard, but don't despair, the right place will come along! x
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

Maybe too expensive or dont do veggie food, it would be easiest if you can find somewhere where you can provide own catering. Indian caterers would do veggie or vegan food. Good luck. It is hard finding the right venue. Sometimes looking at individual county registry office sites is the best way.
We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T

if we went to scotland it would just be the two of us as noone would go that far. but i have a son who i would like with us plus gets confusing as if we are eloping secretly who has my son etc etc etc. going back home is to the south west and no none of them would be able to help. i want everything organised and then the invites go out so that noone can interfere. noone will have any jobs so they can't complain so they either attend a nice afternoon with afternoon tea or they don't bother. ive had mountains of hassle with siblings wedding and a parents wedding in the last 3 years as i got involved in all of it without wanting to and i just dont want that hassle ever again :( we have splits on both sides and MANY relations that have not talked for my whole life so it really is a complete nightmare to be honest. plus partner has decided he is not even inviting his father now. i have been trying to sort out seating plans for about 4 days whilst in bed with a virus and still not done one where it would be ok!

but i have decided i want a nice day like everyone else gets to have where everyone is supposed to be nice to me. due to family issues i have missed out on many other things and i am now at the stage in my life where i dont think i should have to miss out on anything anymore. eloping would be the easy option but i would rather they all just put me first for one day. if that makes sense!

anyhow i know i am not the only one with these issues and i am just trying to focus on doing something nice :) i hope your family situation is easier!

thanks so much! i have tried some of them and they just aren't right for us. the forestry commission one is too far from us but looks amazing is anyone in here using it? I love trees so i think that would be fantastic.

The joy of MSE is that it is cheaper to make a lot of things yourself from invites to favours so that makes it personal and unique. Think of how many companies mass produce these weddingy items and how many people don't have time or inclination to make things thereselves. I'm making favours, invites and centrepieces, I'm sure I'll think of other things too.

Anderson8, are you making anything else for your wedding, I mis-ordered ribbon and it's black, it cost £2.99 so really not worth seeing if they'd swap it or postage really. It's 7mm and there is 20 metres of it
im making button bouquet and button holes so that would come in very handy indeed!

I can't believe some of these venues! Me and OH were discussing what we were going to charge for our room hire (we have a restaurant on the side of the pub) and we were talking about things like being flexible, letting people use their own caterers and things like that. There is absolutely no way our chef would refuse to do veggie food options, he'd laugh us out of the kitchen, if we went in asking like it was out of the ordinary!! I'm so cross, I'm glad we have the pub to do our reception otherwise I'd end up annoyed with all these venues, especially when I know the mark ups!
I hope you find somewhere, it's your day, it should be exactly how you want it!

thanks its been a complete nightmare for us. we just wanted to get something booked as its a complete surprise as no one else knows and start getting organised and yet we can't find anything that we can afford that can cater for us apart from the one place - a choice would have been nice....

we thought what with the recession at the moment that wanting a mid week wedding just afternoon tea/picnic style veggie food for under 50 guests ANY venue would want our business as its an extra wedding they can do on top of the more elaborate ones at weekends, etc, etc. but it has not proved to be the case at all. we are at the stage that if any don't respond directly to our menu requirements and just email the basic pdf stuff they have on their sites that we have already read that we just but them in the no pile as it means they haven't even read the short paragraph I have emailed to them and how can we trust them to help organise the food if that is the case :(

the one venue who we do want to see hopefully will reply soon with a suitable date as they have sent us a wonderful menu and it is such a relief to know that one venue out of 100s understands.

i have got very tearful over the last few weeks as keep thinking we have found somewhere and then its a disaster again. one gorgeous barn said they could accommodate us mid week with a reduced venue fee (mid week and we would have the venue for just half a day as we do not need an evening do as guests are travelling across country) and that afternoon tea menu etc etc etc would be fine then 4 emails into discussions and i ask if we can book to go and view and they backtrack (and even admit they are) and say that on reflection we would have to pay full venue fee and that they cannot accommodate afternoon tea style food :( so partner and i are at the stage where we will just forget it for another year .... but we did this last year and the year before :(:(:(
