I believe it's best to keep landline with BT then you still have the choice of who to use for broadband
If suppliers take over the line (like Talk Talk and Sky are going to be doing from 29th March) then you can only have their services. If you then want to move away from them later you will have to get a new BT line installed.

You don't have to have a new line installed, BT will take it back but there will be broadband downtime while this is done. After all BT still own the copper wire from your house to the exchange.

Care to share? I was thinking of switching, but perhaps not...?

I'm thinking of Virgin Media as they have fibre optic cable where I live. That should avoid the speed limitations when your BB is delivered over a copper wire phone line.

Doesn't look like that's going to float either, when I put in my postcode to their website I get:

You're not in a fibre optic area, but can still get our brilliant broadband down your phone line

It's beginning to feel like I live in a hole!

I'm having the same problem as you SueC

Looking to change provider for both BB and Home phone at the moment I'm with Tiscali (TalkTalk), there have been so many horror stories of Talktalk that I really do not want to stay with them.

we also live in the place that time forgot where our exchange came from the ark:rotfl:

    No cable here either:mad:

Looking for the best possible deal for unlimited BB, Phone line rental and anytime call package.
    Any Ideas welcome

However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.

The following services are available in your location:
    BT Wholesale ADSL
    BT Wholesale ADSL Max
    TalkTalk (CPW) LLU

Please select the options on the left for more information about broadband availability at your location.

Not a lot of choice if I don't want to stay with Talk talk

Not many options I am afraid and once TalkTalk move you onto their network you really will have no choice without losing broadband for a couple of weeks.

Bt Options work out more expensive than Talktalk

Maximum speed is 6.5mb so can't see point of paying through the nose
There must be other options out there.

There wont be except for TalkTalk. Everyone else has to pay BT a fee that they pass on to you. On exchanges with lots of LLU operators you find the best deals.

I've been researching TalkTalk customer feedback. Now there's an entertaining day on Google!

Suffice to say, I won't be TalkTalking to anyone!
