question to those who dont bother with Valentines day

Options
Curious? Those who think that v day is a waste of time and only for card shops to make more money etc ( comments on thread) do you feel the same about mothers and fathers day?

If you dont want to bother with v day then do you bother with other days and if so why are they different?

Could you not apply the same to those days?

In other words we can show mum we love her all year round not just on mothers day?

Because other people think differently to the way we do, so we think about their feelings.

I do and don't bother with valentines, I buy my missus some flowers the week before VDay as they are so much cheaper, and I will cook a nice romantic dinner for us both the thought of being crammed into a restaurant with a load of others doesnt seem romantic in the slightest to us, we will recycle cards we sent each for our first VDay, and dont bother with presents.

The mother/mil to be gets their gifts on mother day, luckily I am spared the fathers day farce, as I would need a submarine to give him his present. As currently he resides at the bottom of the atlantic.

Luckily both me and OH think its a waste of time/money - I like to show my love for him every day, not just buy some naff card one day a year!

I dont do mothers day/fathers day either, I dont send cards at xmas but I do gifts for my close rellies because I know them well enough to buy something they will like.

Birthdays I do make a big deal of because its your one day a year to feel special and I like that...but I do feel for a friend of mine that her birthday is on valentines day...so we all go out for dinner somewhere not too cheesy and make sure we get a cake and do the whole thing just to annoy all the upchuck snogging couples! :D

I get my parents a card for mother and father's days for their sake because I know that they will appreciate it. My OH feels the same way I do about Valentine's day so it would be a complete waste of time and money to swap meaningless cards and gifts! If it mattered to him I'd get him a card.

You ever thought that some people just aren't romantic? If/when a man gives me flowers I take them to the grave yard as I bl00dy hate cut flowers. So romance is wasted on me really, any man in my life is told that at the start of a relationship :) So when it comes to VDay, the shops can keep those cards for those of you who are romantics. I wouldn't thank you for receiving one either :o

  • OH and I don't bother either, we only get token gifts for Mother's and Father's Day (chocs or flowers or a few botlles of real ale for FIL or a DVD for my dad) maybe costing £10.00 or so.

Everybody is different and they way to choose to spend these so called 'special' occasions is a personal choice, what one person sees as romantic, is mushy to someone else!

No, why should I care what anyone else thinks?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

both HIM and me dont bother with V day, as its just pumped up hype, with naff overpriced cards etc, and as its my birthday on the 15th (hint hint lol) i get a huge bouquet of V flowers at half price very mse :D:D we dont need a day to express our feelings for each other, we do it throughout the year

as for mothers/fathers day, we wouldnt do that either, but as thing 1 says, its the one day they can truely pamper me as a thank you for all that i have done for them throughout the year, they want to show their appreiciation, i keep telling them all they have to do to do that, is to clean their rooms and put their clothes IN not next to the wash basket :rotfl::rotfl:
If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?
