Anyone ever used Aqueous cream?

Pandoras Jar - I had exactly the same problem with shampoo. Brought me up in wee lumps all over my head. I have now found one of the L'Oreal shampoo and conditioners (dunno the name of it, pink bottle for long hair) has worked for me so i'm sticking to it However, I recommended it to my sister and she got all lumpy with it, must be something in it that affects her and not me, but my hair has never been in such good condition

If I can also be so bold as to say a good rub with the aqueous when the inflamation has gone down is a good thing to boost the circulation of the skin too, slimey, but works

My ds1 had infant eczema and we used aqueous cream every day. I used to smother him in it and pop him in a cotton baby grow at night. He had eczema all over (we found it great for his nappy rash too) . The way I used to bath him was to just put a couple of inches of water in the bath , then lay him flat and use the aqueous cream all over and rinse it off. It meant I didnt have to try and keep a grip on him whilst I washed him as the water didnt come up that far iyswim.

Hi everyone well he is succesfully bathed i mixed the cream with water then added it to the bath as suggested he wasn't any more slippery than usual before he got in i slathered his face with the cream then just sponged it off. I am hopeing that adding it to the water will prevent it from flaring.

Tigerlilly he is 5 1/2 months but he is really big for his age so babybath was out he has one of those blueseats attached to the bath mat.

ok we have used just about everything going.

DS suffered very badly with eczema since he was a few months old, head to toe was open sores.

this went on for months, we found with aqueous cream it made him worse, (if i think back right this has lanolin in?) and then found out he was sensitive to lanolin, dr gave us Epaderm, (which we now have tubs and tubs of!) and also gave us steriod cream which we didnt want to use,
anyway months and months of going to the dr, ds was 6 months old and got peri-orbital cellulitis which stemed from his eczema, his eczema basically it looked like someone had dragged him accross tarmac, he had it on both cheeks both arms, both legs from top to bottom. he was hospitalized with the cellulitis and eventually got the hospital to refer us to the dermatology clinic they basically said we have no choice than to use the steriods, so after a few months of going up there we finally got rid of the infection in the eczema, and started work on the eczema itself.

if you havent been given it already, ask your dr for comfi-fast, its special dressings (leggings, t-shirts, hoods, mitts and socks) basically you gloop them up in the cream then put the dressings on top, it helps the sking to absorb the cream (and hides their skin from constant scratching)
epaderm is good as it has no colourings, frangrances, additives, preservatives an its a 3 in 1, an emmolient, bath additive and soap alternitive (just found a tub right next to me haha)
another good thing is oilatum, you can get cream and bath additive, you can buy this in the shops but i always got on prescription.
anyway if you need any advice please feel free to pm me, like i said we have used pretty much everything, if not all that dr's offer for eczema. (and lots of different steriod creams)

ds is now almost 3, he still has eczema although we have managed to get on top of it with the help of epaderm had he very raely has flare ups which need steriods

I think it's them who do a version for children and a version for adults.

Epaderm has SLS in and makes my eczema worse, but it was from their webiste I got the tip about adding to hot water then putting in the bath.

I guess everyone is different as I have found what works for one person wont work for someone else.

I have to add Aqueous Cream hasn't gotten rid of my eczema, but neither have various steriod creams, chinese medicine, Olitum (sp?) but the Aqueous does stop me clawing my legs to shreds most of the time.

That's very true! The most sensible dermatologists and GPs will say something like "In theory, this preparation should work better than that one, but you may not find that ..."

The two things which help eczema more than anything else are keeping the skin moisturised, and not scratching it (I know!) Generally, doing the first helps the second, but it's easy to get out of the habit of moisturising once a flare up dies down! Until the next time ...
