Anyone ever used Aqueous cream?

i use aqueous cream alot...i get really itchy legs to the point i scractch so much they bleed and within a few days of using this i stop itching...the best thing about it is that its only a couple of quid and almost every chemist sells it
works good as a shaving cream lol x

I use it on my daughter whos 9 as well. Its really good stuff. If shes particularly dry I also use it in the bath and it does the trick.

My DD has had excema from a baby and my doctor gave me the cream but I found it was too akward to bath a small baby with so he gave me oilatum to put in the bath which was much better to use

The doctor did mention oilatum but seeing as its only two tiny patches on his face she thought it best just to stick with the cream for the time being but to bring him back if he had any further outbreaks and we would see if he needs anything further. I dont think he actually needs to be bathed in it she said it would be best though as using baby bath you cant guarentee it wont get on to his face whilst bathing iuswim :-)

My daughter uses aqueous cream, aveeno, oilatum, steroid cream. Baby bath etc, can be quite drying, what about just bathing mostly in water perhaps just 'dirty' bits with a bit of baby bath or baby soap (do they still do it?) on a flannel and just water every where else most days? My daughter had a little wound from a drip in her temple when she was 3 months old and we had to watch shampoo etc. for a few days.

The only thing I can tolerate on my face is Aveeno. Does anyone else with sensitive skin find they itch like crazy if they use baby oil?

I use Aqueous Cream in the bath, usually put a er. 2 fingers full (I'm guessing its around 2/3tps into a cup, add boiling water and stir like crazy then throw it into my bath, you do get a little bit of foam, its not too slippy and seems to soak right in.

Yes patchwork you can still get baby soap i have a few bars tucked away somewhere.

I would avoid using any kind of soap on skin that's sensitive or has eczema. Use the aqueous cream as soap. Have never heard of using it in the bath though, might give that a go. It also makes a good shaving cream for those with sensitive skin


As for E45, I believe it contains lanolin, which can also be an allergen for sensitive skins. It used to anyway. Have stuck to Aqueous or Double/Ultrabase for so many years now, I can't remember.

Emulsifying ointmenet is good for the bath, too. That is what we use if not the oilatum or balneum in the bath.

Also, but probably not with such a small patch, porridge in a muslin under the hot tap is good, my daughter likes porridge soap ( Aveeno has collloidal oatmeal in it)

Aqueous cream is a good moneysaving tip actually as it costs less than £2 when purchased generically and is an excellent moisturiser.
