Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 10th Feb.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning peeps
second day off today and guess what - can`t sleep again, oh well at least i shall be in the right frame of mind for starting the early shifts.
I shall make and print off a checklist shortly ready for my delivery later today, the first delivery of the kitchen cabinet doors is scheduled for later today and i confess to being just a teeny weeny bit excited
We didn`t manage to get the painting started in there yesterday so hopefully today will see the beginning of that, i must have had the kitchen ceiling on my to do list for quite a few days now and i`m determined to see it all through in advance of the second delivery.
I`ve just put the washing machine on and the dishwasher is next, i also need to put the slowcooker on, i meant to do this last night and forgot again, it will have to go on two nights in a row now as i`ve almost depleted my freezer stock of doggie food.
Its bitterly cold here and it has snowed again in the night, i hope that the weather warms up again soon, i have a tub full of bird food to put out as soon as the daylight starts to peek around the curtains so i shall look forward to seeing all our different feathered friends in the garden again today.
Anguk - How is Martyn doing?
Sandie71 - Hope that the swelling has gone down in your arm and that its not painful anymore.
Nic1Lou2 - Did your car get fixed? Hope it didn`t burn a hole in your pocket. Our last car always seemed to have something that needed fixing.
I`m off for another cuppa, the last one went down rather quickly and i feel quite thirsty, must have been the wine last night
Have a good day peeps, keep safe and warm.

Penpin - Still thinking of you and your family

Pipkin - Hope you can get the pain under control hon.
Anguk - How is Martyn doing?
SunnyGirl - Am hoping your mum is feeling better today. Big hugs hon.
Cranky - in my thoughts.Breakfast will be Weetabix and bananas. Lunch will be HM bread toasted with cheese and HM chilli oil drizzled on top. Dinner will be the cottage pie I made yesterday. Made 350g mince stretch to 3 generous meals for the two of us. I am sure some OSers could do better, but for us that was great! We will have had cottage pie for two nights and then the rest has been frozen for a quick meal next week. Might add a tin of toms and have it as spag bol.
WM and BM are on so the day has begun.. looking forward to baking some ginger twinks today. Cat is sat next to me trying to sit on the laptop keyboard as it's the warmest spot in the house!
I hope everyone's day is as good as it can be, and that anyone feeling poorlyfeels better soon. With love, light and squishy
for all.

:hello: Morning everyone
Think I must have eventually got my rest in as I awoke at 7 am yesterday and 6.10am today (5.10 with you lot!):eek:
Sunnyday - I know what you mean about excitement with your kitchen facelift
MSD - Glad you are back with us, and the hospital visit went OK.
Pen-Pinto your and your family, hope the break does you all good, and you go on OK in the hospital next week.
MMMand belated
Cranky - Pleased to hear going back to work went OK.:T
Everyone else who'd like/need one grab a :grouphug: here.
H-J - As you don't do hugs - have ahope the back is better soon.
Sorry not posting daily, I am reading, but do not have a lot to say really, I don't like mentioning the weather here with what it is like back home, we are working on finishing the kitchen facelift, yesterday we remove the foil coating from the old pelmet and today will try painting this as did not like the price of what they wanted here 37€ for 3m, if this fails will shop around further. New B/Bar worktop to be collected today. Still cooking from scratch, not eating out much, as it is very quiet with many ex pats struggling with the exchange rate, only an atmosphere at weekends or if a bar puts a quiz or music on, but will go to our local bar with music tonight. Washing resonably up to date must tackle the ironing. A few rainy days forecast from Sunday (typical as folks come out at half term!) so will catch up then, and have a top to toe blitz of the house after the dust from the kitchen.
For any parents amongst us, I've posted at the end of yesterday's thread something that will make you smile if you have the time to read'

Morning Earlybirds
Didn't catch up with the thread yesterday so hope everyone is ok, (((hugs))) wherever needed.
Absolutely freezing here again today - felt sorry for the bricklayers yesterday - made them loads of cups of tea - neighbour was as well.
Today have normal office work and housework. Managed to clean the bathrooms yesterday and get all the ironing done so was pleased with that.
Popping into big town today as need to return some jeans that I bought DD online - age 14 and they are massive! Will definately treat myself to a large Starbucks whilst there.
Need to wake up DD and get the pork out of the freezer for tonights dinner - pork kebabs.
Have a great day.x0 -
:rotfl:DG! So very true
Morning all
Woke up to a thin layer of snow this morning and it's bitterly cold
The girls have Japanese today, so will make sure we're all wrapped up warm. At least I won't be walking in it, apart from door to car and car to door.
I'm longing for some sun as this weather makes me feel
Anyway, both wm and bm are on the go and I've put a gammon joint in the sc [ I just need to remember to switch it on!]
DD has been printing some pictures which need to be ironed on to a top she bought, ready for her birthday party, so figured I would get the small pile done at the same time, before it turns into a huge pile :A
Have a good day all.

:rotfl::rotfl:
That's fab - and so very accurate!
Am just about to put the WM on & make tea & toast before work. OH is away until tonight. Yesterdays wash is on the airers - note to self: Floss must do some ironing tonight!
Not much OS going on - general cooking / using leftovers!
Just to keep those interested in the wedding goingwe have ordered our cake (square, fruit base, sponge top) booked the band and bought the invites....OH needs to order bridesmaid's dress online tomorrow with Debenhams 20% off code, and I am trying to resist the lure of some silver satin Kurt Geiger shoes on Ebay....will let you know if I succumb!
I suppose could justify it by offsetting some of the £s I saved on both the bridesmaid's AND my dress....:D :rotfl:

I find it best to NEVER resist the lure of shoes, and these ones are sepcial wedding shoes so I would go for it :T:rotfl:
Morning all,
Bitterly cold here, little dog did not want to go out for a wee this morning, think we are due a bit more snow. Donny I hope the weather improves for dd going to spain next week.
Work again today, but I have woken up with a sore throat and headache, will take a couple of tablets and see if they help, there is something going round work at the moment.
Tea tonight will be sausage chips and beans, nice and easy, and I will put another small wash on, sainsbugs coming tonight.
I need to order some new wooden flooring for dd's bedroom, might do that tonight, and need to clear it out a bit tonight, we have hopefully got the electrician coming tomorrow to put two new sockets in her room, there is only one socket at the moment, and for a teenage girl that is just not enough, would like to get most of her bedroom done next week while she is away, it would be a nice surprise for her, and easier for us if she is away
Hope everyone is ok this morning, have good days all xx0
