  • Well a few years ago we took our cat to the vet about fleas, paid a huge bill, came home and a few days later noticed more fleas. My husband phoned the vet to say that the stuff had not worked only to be told “It does not kill the fleas – it stops them from breeding!”

Sounds like you might have been given something called Programme which goes in their food. Did they not also give you a spray to kill existing fleas?

Cannot remember it was along time ago - I just remember my husband being astounded because we had spent all that money and the cat still had fleas, we had just put them on birth control!
  • You're talking about the new Frontline Combo though, which is a completely different product to the original Frontline, and yes it does need a prescription. The original Frontline is available WITHOUT prescription as a spot-on treatment. Not sure what you mean about it taking ages to dry though, both the original and the combo are applied exactly the same on the back of that neck

When we put the regular frontline on our kittens it took ages to dry. When the vet used Frontline combo it was dry in about 5 minutes which is handy when you have two kittens that like to groom each other. And yes it was applied exactly the same on the back of the neck.

Also I do believe that I did say that the regular Frontline is not what our vet uses and that you don't need a prescription to get that one.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

bob martin flea bombs will sort the house out once you sort the dog out these are effecti9ve for 6 months so any eggs should be hatched and dead in that time.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Flea eggs can lie dormant anything up to 9mths before hatching which is why products such as Bob Martin's and anything else you can buy in a supermarket/petshop are not really affective long term. Much better to use a veterinary spray such as Acclaim, Staykill etc which remains active for 12mths, and used annually (around springtime) means you should never have a flea problem in your house again!

You will of course have to continue treating your pet regularly as they will pick up fleas outdoors from the grass/other animals etc, but any that drop off in the house will be killed straight away :)

Like others have said stuff from pet shops never work, nor do collars, in fact flea collars tend to make the area around a cats neck go bald :o

Frontline is the best and postage is free at Vetuk.co.uk, cheaper then the vets as others have said and easy to apply.

If you've got a spray on flea repellant such as Frontline, give them a blast of that they should drop off
