Yes, but it's strange that it didn't find the other infections too. Did you do a full scan again?

The malwarebytes that was those results, yes, i did do a full scan.. took an hr though & only came up with that one thing.

Ive ran windows defender again & avg & it doesn't come up with anything either..

Do you think it's best to delete the ad-aware & keep the malwarebytes?

    Thanks for your reply.

Malware.Trace might be a problem best if RIK or one of the other experts to advise you on this.

Can you post the log file from malwarebytes, just click on the log tab in malwarebytes and copy & paste the latest log file.

  • The free version of malwarebytes will not protect the computer all the time - it must be run manually and so is only good when you suspect that you have an infection.

Note that the infections found earlier could just be the remains of some malware that has already been removed. The infected registry entry listed by malware bytes is not harmful by itself - it is just an indication that some malware was running at some point before (and was probably removed by Windows Defender or Ad-Aware). This may be why the 6 infections from earlier were not picked up this time - they are probably just the remains of previous infections that are no longer harmful.

To be on the safe side, I would still run another scan with a different program though - perhaps one of the web scanners recommended in this forum.

I would personally just stick with Windows Defender/Microsoft Security Essentials, but of course you could continue to use ad-aware if you wish (but then disable Windows Defender).

Ok Thankyou, What other program would you recommend? There are so many to choose from :rotfl:

I will uninstall AVG and install Microsoft Security Essentials and keep Windows Defender Running. I dont like the Ad-aware, it never lets me upgrade to the new one, I always get error messages.(& It is probably best to keep upto date) What would you recommend instead of Ad-Aware?

Thanks again everyone has been really helpful :T

Personally I would ditch AD-Aware, I stopped using it a few years ago when they re-vamped it and it started to become bloaty.

Windows Defender is for spyware protection only. MSE is full anti-malware protection (spyware, virus, Trojans, worms, root kits). So, there is no need for Defender. On XP, MSE should uninstall Defender. If not, you can uninstall it. On Vista and Windows 7, MSE should disable Defender. If not, you should disable it. For more information on Windows Defender, read this thread.

Thankyou dogmary :) I will disable windows defender and just use MSE as that covers all
