    The point I was trying to make is that no manufacturer is immune from recalls that is why I am surprised that there is so much press interest in this story .
    How many domestic appliances have design faults that could potentially burn your house down but they do not seem to create the same amount of headline space .

    To be honest whatever is written in the press these days I take with a pinch of salt because there is to much of a sensational type of journalism !! I personally would prefer to read a true and accurate statement of the facts not what editors think will sell more newspapers or what there political aims or objectives are

    I think it's news for several reasons.

    It's the biggest recall in automotive history.
    It involves a company that for years has never admitted to any problem.
    It has taken the intervention of the president of the usa.
    It's had several deaths attributed to it.
    Toyota may be about to face congress.

    Well yes, the US Government do have an obvious interest, they have a few billion $$$$'s invested in their own rubbish car makers.

    So they are hardly going to be unbiased towards the competition.
