Perhaps Toyota have just discovered the ultimate sales pitch to get punters through the showroom doors to see if they can get a good deal
But seriously you could always get some sort of discount from Toyota if you knew how to negotiate .
All cars whatever marque get recalls its a fact of life !!but more importantly is how a company decides how to respond to it !! some manufacturers will try to avoid admitting there is a problem
One thing you can guarantee from Toyota is that
1 -you will be well looked after as a customer
2- The resale values will not be affected
3- They will demand stricter engineering limits on there parts suppliers.
To be honest I hope this will be a wake up call for all car makers0 -

If you use the dealers near me, you will get none of the above. They seem to employ people that have no social skills, have a strong dislike of the public and do not understand the words 'customer service'.
I'd complain - but it works to our advantage! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
We've been asked if we are paying them to be rude and talk down to people! How do idiots get jobs like that? :rotfl:Genie

I was a salesman for my sins for 17 years, including a stint at Toyota. I would say that you would be correct to assume low showroom traffic because of the recall news and therefore good deals to be had from desperate sales managers.
However I would be inclined to wait until the last week of the month to do your haggling, especially if you are looking for a new car but not bothered which month it is registered in as they could be desperate to meet their February targets.
Also, make sure you go to another dealer to compare the deal and if possible on a car they have in stock, just make sure the mods been done !0 -

Some of the other available rubbish with inherent unknown faults
The problem is that they have know but denied faults. Toyota have actually known about the "sticking" accelerator pedal since 2008 but hoped the problem would just go away (Toyota's PR man admitted this on working lunch last week)3- They will demand stricter engineering limits on there parts suppliers.
The accelerator problem stems from the fact that they started having parts made in China to save money.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

I am sure they are not the only manufacturer guilty of this, none of this media hype would stop me buying a Toyota.0 -
Sorry I did not make myself clear, I was meaning that all manufactures have faults the fact that you know about this one does not mean that is all there is.
I have a Celica which I have had for 7 years (its 8 years old) it has been brilliant so it would never put me off a Toyota. (although if I knew about the 140's oval piston problem or the 190's snapping lift bolts I might never have bought it LOL)
We also had a Focus which had 2 problems which were well known to independent garages at the time but were denied as problems by Ford dealers.
Best option before you buy is get on the owners web sites (http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php) and you will soon spot the problems for any car.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0
