  • Ive just read your entire diary over the last few days. You really are an inspiration to me. I've just found out I've got to go back to work full time after my maternity leave ends in August. I want to do something similar to what you have (very, very nearly) achieved and pay off the mortgage so I can work part-time or for myself when my daughter goes to school.

I'll be watching your final few days with interest! Good luck.

    :)

Retire at 50 thank you very much. TBH honest in this day and age it is terrible that some employers cannot be flexible, it is so tough and i feel for you. However, ultimately time does pass and my daughter doesn't remember me not being there, however she will remember (hopefully a bit!) our holidays this year and I love spoiling her now we can a bit more. It was tough but its kind of empowering to do it and once its done its done, if u don't do it time still passes and u could wish ud done it!! I wish you all the best, it makes you stronger I guess but getting to pick our daughter up from school and knowing her friends and being involved now is exciting and without doing this it might not have been an option. I did alot of videocamera-ing and so its good to look back and remember though time flies whether you're at work or home. I think it helps them be adaptable as well, they don't get so upset when they start preschool etc, I think if u give yourself a deadline u will get there, good luck :)
