Oh trust me I'm no where near organised yet, I have too many, I can't ever envisage day I will actually be able to go back to the library because I won't have anything to read at homeSPC~12 ot 124

^ this is my goal - and I'm hoping to achieve it by the end of next year.
I still have loads of Kindle books to read, but my collection of paperbacks is rapidly diminishing - I think I am likely to finish all of mine bar a few classics (namely War & Peace and Vanity Fair, they're such hefty tomes!) by the end of this year, then just need to work my way through those of DH's that I wish to read, which I think will keep me occupied for a good few months.
I do miss popping to the library, it's a great way of trying books you wouldn't normally, but I've been very disciplined over the past couple of years and focused on reading my books first - otherwise I would NEVER get through them all!MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -

First book done - The Eye of the World. Straight on to number two, it's time for The Great Hunt!Debt tracker ~ June 2015: £9,577.83 ~ January 2016: £7,913.22 ~ 17.38% debt paid!

Normally I like nothing better than getting completely engrossed in a real doorstop of a book but what with family commitments and one thing or another my reading time has been almost wiped out:mad:. I keep getting interrupted even when I've managed to wangle a bit of 'me' time and have to keep backtracking every time I try to start reading where I left off because I can't remember what I've read. This is a real pain:(
So, in search of something shortish and not needing too much concentration I've been rooting through the boxes of paperbacks (which I picked up for a pittance at a car boot sale once:j) in the shed. I'd been through them already and sold the good ones on Amazon etc , given loads to charity and the rest were earmarked for selling on car boot sales. Now my criteria are just light and short I've managed to find some that fit the bill for me to read myself:j.
Finished one of them last night, The Choir by Joanna Trollope. First one of hers I've ever read and quite enjoyed it. All about the machinations of the various clergy and their wives in a cathedral city. If I was to find something else by her buried in my stash I'd read it but not sure I'd specially seek her out.
Borrowed a book of short stories by Rose Tremain from the library van last week . The title of the book (The Darkness of Wallis Simpson) took my eye to be honest but it's only the first story that's about her. There's a good variety of stories in there, I've only managed to read 3 so far:o but I'm hooked already. I just love her writing style and have rediscovered my love of the short story format which has sadly fallen out of favour with modern readers and there seem so few examples about:(.0 -

Thanks for reminding us of Rose Tremain, I remember that I read The Road Home a few years back and like you quite enjoyed her style!
I fully agree with what you say about short stories - perfect length for a soak in the bath and bedtime, I must go through my shelves and find some!
*I now finished Life after Life. What an exquisite tapestry of a story. Worth "properly" reading it again (I listened to it as audio) to find the time connections and twists as it can be confusing in parts. Wonderfully written, I'll definitely find more of Kate Atkinson's books.
I now have started Marian Keyes The Woman who Stole my Life, a favourite author of mine.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Hello Folks! I'm new to the forums and this was the first thread I spotted that screamed 'Join In' at me. I have so many unread books, including some from my time working in a book store nearly twenty years ago, but I still seem to buy more - mainly from boredom at train stations. I commute a lot!
So, I've committed myself to:
1) Not buying any books for the rest of 2015.
2) Sorting all of my books and selling/donating the ones that I will never read (or read again.)
3) Having a book in my bag at all times (so that I'm not tempted to buy any more.)
4) Setting up a book swapping scheme at work.
And, I started today by plucking a random book off the shelf and stuffing it in my bag - The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler. Pretty intriguing so far0 -

Still one of my favourite fantasy series. What did you think of the Brandon Sanderson ending?0 -
Welcome obop.
I'm reading a book that I was given - Last Voyage of Valentina by Santa Montefiore. Totally different to what I have been reading this year. Will go back to Philippa Gregory in September.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Finished Crusader Gold, which didn't take long to read, especially as it was large print!
Also finished The Mystery of Mercy Close by Marian Keyes. She's my favourite author, however this book wasn't quite up to her sparkly best, but a good read none the less.
Now currently reading Rumour Has It by Jill Mansell, another favourite author of mine. Though I think I might have read this one before, though that was before my Goodreads days, so at least it will still count for my challenge.0
