    Hope all are well.
I've read two books over the weekend, put out the fires got left on the bookshelf at the hotel we stayed at and I'll give creature comforts to my mum to read. I really enjoyed that and would recommend it.
I did buy two Carole Matthews in a Cs this morning and DD1 bought me the call the midwife book for my birthday so a few adds but I did take a big box of books to the CS this morning.

Call the midwife is really good, very graphic detailed and not for the squeamish in places but rally interesting insight to midwifery in the 50s and the appalling way some people had to live in the tenements and slums of East London.

I'll be very interested to hear what you think about Go Set A Watchman, blindtoast as reviews seemed to have been very mixed indeed:eek:

GSAW is part of my dilemma at the moment actually. I've vowed NOT to buy books until I've read those I already have, that's what this challenge is supposed to be for. But I see various posters sometimes succumb and buy cheap books from charity shops and car boot sales as do I(they don't count do they;)). Lots of us borrow from libraries free too, so that's not breaking the terms of the challenge, just slowing down our depletion of books already on our bookshelves.

What do we do about vouchers? Our local paper has printed a '£5 off £15' at WHSmith coupon and I already have 2 Love2Shop vouchers totalling £10 (which can be used at WHSmith amongst many other retailers:j). WHS have an offer on at the moment of 3 for 2 on a vast range of paperbacks (mainly in the £7.99 price bracket) many of which I'd really love to read. I think GSAW is half price but I didn't check:o. I was in there browsing today (actually only popped in for a newspaper) and had to steel myself not to buy anything else.

But, I could buy 3 of the offer paperbacks for a total of £15.98 and after using my vouchers only have to pay 98p:j. Or maybe get GSAW (depending on the price) plus some thing else to make up the difference to the qualifying £15. Would be lovely to read brand new recently published books once in a while. I always use my Love2Shop vouchers (from doing surveys) at Wilkinsons, the surveys over the year keep me in toiletries and laundry detergents etc. I'd feel guilty somehow if I spent them on something fun like books:rotfl:.

Might be a devil and bite the bullet tomorrow morning and go back and do it though:j

I've heard mixed reviews for GSAW as well so be interested to read an opinion in here. I've still got to kill a mockingbird on my to read shelf.

Crabootcrazy if you can use those vouchers together and get those books for such a bargain price I'd say go for it.

I will let you all know what I think of it. Tbh I've not heard much of anything about GSAW other than its later in the lives of the Finch family but To kill a mockingbird is one of my all time favourite books so I'm a bit worried that this one won't live up to that. 10 pages in and its written in a very similar way so far which bodes well!

Carbootcrazy, I agree with Mrs-moneypenny - 98p for 3 brand new books is v.good. Or GSAW and another :)

Blind toast I read that it was written before to kill a mockingbird but the publishers weren't interested so she went back and wrote about an earlier period of their lives.

Finished call the midwife really found it interesting, I've got a box of Michael morpurgo books that the kids have never bothered with so I'm going to finish reading those before letting the Cs (or the school library) have them. Reading "my friend Walter" at the mo

Read the Wedding Wallah the other day, quite interesting. The author was good at explaining the Indian culture and how the impacted on the characters.

Also read His Last Bow by Arthur Conan Doyle, so that's my three Sherlock books finished.

I've now borrowed Crusader Gold, by David Gibbins. It's part 2 of his Jack Howard series and follows on from his Atlantis book. Interesting as the library only had a large print edition available, so I look very interesting reading it on the bus!

Finished my friend Walter and have picked " the sleeping sword" again by Michael morpurgo from the box set. I've picked out 4 paperbacks to take on holiday with me they are ones that if I finish while away I can leave in the holiday house or in pubs or CSs while away.
