  • Ughhhhh, what a day! Ended up being ridiculously early for uni the morning, and realised i'd threw al my uni folders in my bag but no pens!
There is a Works just at my bus stop, beside my uni so i jumped in to buy a cheap pen, but came out with a pen and 3 books.
They were 3 for £5 though, cheapest i've seen these ones anywhere! So i got:
Kiss of Death - Rachel Caine (Morganville #8)
Claire de Lune - Christine Johnson
Radiant Shadows - Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely #4)

Then because i am currently reading Ink Exchange (Wicked Lovely #2), i had to buy the 3rd one Fragile Eternity from Amazon, got a cheap one for 1p though :)

Then picked up library books i'd reserved:
    Succubus Blues - Richelle Mead
    Gone - Michael Grant
    Lies - Michael Grant
City of Glass - Cassandra Clare

then came home to my delivery of the 10 Tru Blood books from The Book People.

So i am off to re-arrange the bookcases again

Hi all! I love this thread :) (I don't post often but subscribe and read every day).

Received a kindle for Christmas got to say I love it and I currently have 170 samples to read and 27 bought books (not include my hard copies!)

Last book I finished was one moment one morning and its brill - well worth it! Just a quick question for anyone who's read - if you travel on a train does it make you wonder if the person next is sleeping or "gone". The reason I ask is I'm currently sat next to someone on the train and the way he's snoozing and leaning right forward makes me a little wary... its only the odd little head movement thats tells you otherwise...
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos
  • New to this thread but I am sticking around that's for sure. Maybe we should make a swap shop or something for those interested in other peoples books and vice versa (if one doesn't already exist).

Just finished the Night Watch saga. Brilliant books and well written. The translation is a bit wonky though and the second book (of the four) takes a long time to get going but I would recommend them to anybody who loves a bit of the supernatural in their stories.

    So the list is now:

    READ -
    The Night Watch
    The Day Watch
    The Twilight Watch
    The Last Watch

    TO READ -
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
The Girl Who Played With Fire
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest
    The Bourne Deception
    Catch 22

There is also a wonderful collection of Edgar Allen Poe's works which my ladyfriend bought me for valentines (a gift every day) which I really want to read but I can't until I've finished the others.

While I'm at it, must confess to having a quiet patch at the minute: am so busy chasing my tail that I've not had much of a chance to read a lot, so forgive my lack of book-finishing. It's OK, though: littlepinkstars is doing enough for both of us! :rotfl:

Feeling a touch smug today, read four books from the Kindle....which puts it down to 252 ebooks to read. Had a nice evening in without the boyfriend so am planning to spend tomorrow snuggled on the sofa with a book while he sleeps off his night shift.

Popped in to my lovely, lovely local library today (thankfully not under threat in local spending cuts) to pick up Jane Furnival's Smart Spending, a book that I'd reserved online.
Lo and behold, there is a non-fiction booksale on... well, I've only got a small stash of unread books ... and these are just £1 each...:o:o:o

I'm a 98% non-fiction reader. I picked up Anna Sams' Checkout: A Life on the Tills and Pat Thomas' Skin Deep: The essential guide to what's really in the toiletries and cosmetics you use.

That last book was bought with the thought that what was in it might make very interesting sharing over on the No Buying Toiletries thread (which is having a partial morph into an extension of this one at the moment!)

I'm confessing..........I was in town today and "fell" into Water$!nes. Bought the first three by Jo nesbo - I've had them on order from the Library forever.
Well, they were 342 and I had just done a mystery shop for which I will get £15, so really they were free:rotfl::rotfl:

I support that thinking, Jinty. :T
You mentioned having to wait for books ordered from libraries. :(
In County Durham I've rarely had a problem getting books on order from our local libraries. It's a fair sized county with lots of little branches (many of which are under threat in cutbacks) and ordering online I can often see more than one copy of a book to request so if one's not available, I'll have another possible opportunity to get it.
If your local libraries are under threat and there is a campaign going to save them, please get behind it. Not just for the books, but the internet access too. This is often a lifeline for people on low incomes in isolated communities.

To paraphrase the Manic Street Preachers, libraries not only gave us power, they continue to give us power.
