You have to be careful with spoons and Lloyd's. Sometimes the food is reasonable, other times it is awful, just depends who's cooking!
I'd recommend the Royal China restaraunt, part of Shaftesbury hotel.
Without a doubt the best chinese food for miles! Fresh and definetly not seagulls! (a la city quay chinese!)Please don't pm me asking to eat me because you are hungry.
I am NOT a sausage roll.0 -
In Dunfermline there's an absolutely sensational Italian called Taurasi. As mentioned before the Mexican is Dos Amigos. It's wise to book if you want to go to either of these as they can get really busy. For a more european selection try the Wood Mill on Linburn Road and do check out the dessert cabinet as the home-made ones look stunning.0

Agreed great service every time.
On another note I wanted to tell you about a little place for lunch if you are out for a drive in Fife. The Ship Inn @ Elie - marvellous and great in the summer as they have a patio overlooking the beach. To be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.0 -
We find the Peat Inn to be a wee bit over-rated and much prefer Ostler's Close in Cupar. We've been going for almost 25 years and have yet to be disappointed.
Other favourites: 'The Greenhouse' in Falkland (mid-priced), 'Luigano's' at the Covenanter's in Falkland (Italian/pizza, Fife's only wood-burning pizza oven I believe) and 'The Coachman's' at the Old Manor in London Links (inexpensive).
as a falkland lass at heart i have to say big love to the falkland eateries not forgetting warbecks which another poster mentioned.
however the best place i have ever eaten was the waterfront in anstruther. balbirnie house hotel is also top notch but sadly not money saving.
and for anyone at panevinos in kirckaldy circa 2000, i'm sorry i WAS one fo those drunk fifteen year olds, it was the only place in town our fake id worked!
glad to see a great, useful post like this.why be a song, when you can be a symphony?0 -
for those roo's leap fans there is now a roo's leap in dunfermline.

The biggest problem with the list is where to start!
Cargills in Blairgowrie is fantastic but don't use the menu, look at the specials.
The Belmont Arms at Meigle is very good for a pub lunch.
In Perth, the must try's are:
The Jade Garden on Scott Street for a Chinese.
Nurjahan on Tay Street for an Indian.
Deans @ Let's Eat for a spoil yourself splash out meal (or Parklands or 63 Tay Street)
Brieze on the High Street for a relaxing lunch with fantastic Pizzas
Cafe Tabou for lovely French Cuisine
I think I know how I got to 18 stone now!0 -
The Marmalade Pot (HUngry Horse) alone Riverside Drive, Dundee is a very good value for money place (and I've never had a bad meal there) if you're not wanting to go into the city centre ... free parking too
After the latest re-vamp of the Geordie Croft at the west end of the Kingsway I'd be wary of going thereI've been once and wasn't impressed with their slow service and poor menu.
Nice to save.0 -
Another vote for Ostlers close here ... mmmmmmmmm. Their lamb is fantastic, but it's definately a special occasion place!
Cakes and coffee, as well as light lunches, try the new Fisher and Donaldson cafe in Cupar. (drooling over coffee towers, toffee fudge squares, carrot cake and handmade belgian chocs) They do an awesome hot chocolate where the glass is coated in molted belgian chocolate and filled up with hot milk. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The new Glasshouse in St. Andrews is fantastic as well, and a lovely design - a converted Salvation army hall!

Damn. I want a Fisher & Donaldson's coffee tower now. A skirlie pie would be good too.
PS: Chardonnay, where is the Roo's Leap in Dunfermline exactly? Someone I know tried to find it and failed. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.
