How often do you bath your dog?

I probably bathe my greyhounds once maybe twice a year if they need it, i wash their legs more if they get rawhide gunk etc on them.0

at the moment I am bathing my baby every 10 days or so, she gets really muddy when we are out and being a pup sometimes wees on the training pad in her crate and misses at times and it gets on her blanket.
Between baths I use baby wipes and baby powder-it makes a pretty good makeshift dry shampoo and she loves a good brush so we are both happy:)There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
I think going from everyones advice we are going to go for once a month with Alfie...He is such a lump its not an easy task bathing him and I am no longer strong enough to lift him, my dh will have the lucky job of lifting him in and out of the bath. I used to do it all on my own when he was a pup but he is just too big now!
Dont know where I got the idea from but I always thaught it was really bad to bath dogs more than a couple of times a year but obviously a lot of people bath there dogs a lot more regularly.
Tasbo your little scotty lifting his feet made me laugh....alf does this too , he had hairy feet (between his pads) and drags all sorts into the house so gets a foot wipe before his is allowed in the room. He gets a wonderful "for goodness sake" expression on his face and lifts each leg in turn.

I have an Alsatian Collie cross who is almost 3yr old, and since he was a puppy he hasn't had a bath, the only time he gets wet apart from rain wet is when he does a belly flop into the river or brook lol
he never smells and his coat is always shiny0 -
Hi Cassandra, to be honest, neither of those foods are the best quality. Bakers is very cheap, so you get what you pay for, but Hills is one of the more expensive ones and to be honest it isn't worth the money. You can get far better quality food for the same sort of price.
At 6mths old there is no reason that your dog should have odour problems.
Ear infections can make them smelly (check that it isn't red inside and have a sniff inside the ear, you'll immediately smell an infection).
Skin conditions make them smell too, so check to make sure he doesn't have any sore skin anywhere.
As long as there are no medical problems, it is most likely to be food related.
Buy one of the foods i mentioned previously and gradually change him to it over about 5 days. Once he is on the new food, you should see (or smell) the change within about 3 weeks.
To the OP, just because one of your dogs is fine on the food they are having it doesn't automatically mean it suits both of them. Just as with humans, i can eat all the peanuts i like, but some people will go into anaphylaxis over it!
The smell bothers you enough to start a thread about it, so surely its worth trying a simple solution like a new food to try to cure it!If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed back out?:rotfl:0 -

Sounds like you are implying that I haven't tried to eliminate or care about the cause of my dogs smell?
So just to clarify.... He is a very healthy dog who visits the vets on a regular basis and he does not have any health/medical problems that might cause him to smell. His diet has been changed on several occasions due to our other dog having food allergies , He took part in the diet trials too to avoid food contamination...all the while still stinking. He is simply a smelly dog..they do exist

I tried Jasper on Bakers. The little b*gger picked out all the meaty chunks and left the rest, so it was NOT a success!:) Especially as I had coupons for loads of free Bakers food. Fortunately I had a friend who could use them.
The ONE dog food that has never let me down is Gourmet Hi-Life - the semi-moist stuff. Each pack is the equivalent of one tin of doggymeat and there are usually six packs in a box, I think around £2.60 for a box, so roughly 43p per packet. Jasper and his predecessors love(d) it, it's semi-moist, so no gooey mess on whiskers or in bowl, no bad breath or bits of meat stuck in teeth and keeps everything nice and easy in the "fire-escape" department.:T I'd recommend it to anyone. Jasper would probably prefer fillet steak, medium-rare, but I've told him not to hold his breath for that...0
