It needs to be an estate for camping gear.
diesel
under £3000 (nearer £2500)
As it will be a bit elderly at this price second hand parts will need to be easily available. It also needs to be a solid car that will have a bit of life left in it .
Oh husband doesnt want anything 'boring'!
Love to here you suggestions
Thanks in advance!
I've got a Nissan Primera 2.2DI SVE Estate as my winter runabout. It cost me ~£2.5k. It is a bit boring, but very cheap to run (cheap parts, 40ish mpg), solid and has lots of toys inc. Sat Nav etc. Massive load space. It's a 2002 model so not that old and has plenty of life left in it!! 6-speed gear box too so very civilised and quiet on the motorway.Self confessed nerd when it comes to anything financial and/or numerical! :cool:0 -
Thanks Sandrock thats useful info. Unfortunately they seem pretty rare, only 3 within 100 miles of me and all with 150000 odd miles on clock.
Thanks everyone for the ideas, I'm busy looking them all up !0 -
Or a Mercedes W124 series? Although those are getting seriously old now, but very well put together.
We've got one of those. They are very robust cars and as they're older they're easy to work on at home. When buying an elderly Mercedes, try and get one with FSH.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

Easier said than done if they're so easy to work on at home.;)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I know with skodas you get more car for you money buying them new, but do they maintain their reliability when they' re getting on a bit?
No votes for another landy, I notice.0 -

And dorsetjohn would suggest an E Class, 12 months old and abuse your misses if you disagree.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
