Oh dear, this all means that there'll be NOTHING reduced to half price tomorrow at M&S.

I saw about this deal on here so thought I would give it a go.

I went to M&S first thing Thursday morning as I had a feeling it would be popular. I got the Prawn Cocktail, Steaks and Peppercorn Sauce, with Chunky Chips, Chocolate Puddings, Bottle of Cava and box of Chocolates.

Was lovely, it all tasted so nice! And the money saving was excellent too. Think I will go for one of the meal deals again!
  • Made a special trip to my small local today at 9.30am. Thery always have a good amount left over from dine in offers so it is 1/2 price on the mon.

Today - 2 boxes of strawberries!!!
Nothing else, made a special trip as well, oh well.

Today, I got the rack of lamb for £4.99 instead of £9.99 (in the freezer) and the tomato & camembert tarts (which I love) for £1.49.

    Makes Mondays almost bearable.
  • I got the steak, prawn cocktail and the chocolate pot thing. Not had any of it yet hope its nice. The cava wasnt very nice a bit bland
  • Got the valentine offer, and I frequently buy the M&S dine in offers. Valentine RRP was £35, RRP for the usual £10 offers is frequently around £18. Whilst I'm always happy with the food quality, I'm surprised by the RRP of these specially packaged items - £3.49 for the choc selection; £9.99 for a chianti? I suspect some of the RRPs ( especially the side dishes) are inflated to make the deal appear better.

All of the wines (inc the chianti) were general stock items and were shown at the normal rrp that to my knowledge they have always been sold at. The only exception was the 2008 vintage rose cava, the store I'm at doesn't normally stock this, I'm not sure about larger stores though...I think it was probably shipped in for VD as there normally isn't much call for rose cava. The rrp was broadly in keeping with other stock cavas.

Some of the side dishes are different weights to normal (off the top of my head I think the chips were 500g instead of the usual stock item at 400g) so be careful comparing rrps to what is in store now because they come in the same style of packaging. For most £10 meal deals standard items are used and the normal rrp is shown.

The chocs were a special item for VD and didn't get a good look at them so can't really comment on them.
  • I just wanted to leave my comments as I bought the M&S meal this year and last year, and i have been very pleased with both.

I also bought my meal deal on the Thursday, there were plenty in stock, but lots of people buying them. The staff were restocking while i was there.

I had the camembert and chutney, rump steak with peppercorn sauce, mediterranean veg (made my own chips),the raspberry and vanilla panecotta, the rose pinot grigio, and a rose. I did look at the chocs, but to be honest i persuaded myself not to buy them as i shouldnt be eating them!!

The steak was delicious, so was the sauce - i find as long as you cook it to the instructions on the back it comes out perfect.
The starter, side and dessert were all equally as yummy.

All in all i thought it was well worth the £20 especially because of the steak, as most people have said buying the steak on its own (at M&S or a butchers) would cost at least £10 if not more.

I hope everyone else enjoyed their meals!

Another vote here for the £20 valentines day meal, I got mine on thursday so I'd get a good choice, the lamb with pine nut crust, never tasted anything as tender! A really lovely treat!
