Only a buyer can decide if a mark was unfair so no sellers can do nothing at all about stars.

The overall headline ones are only a problems if they go below 4.6 in any category, but the really dangerous ones are if you get any 1 or 2 * on the expanded seller dashboard. Get more than 3 in a category in a year and you risk suspension or a smack on the wrist. I know I am obsessive about the seller dashboard but it is so important for smaller sellers, to check it go into your sold page, hover your mouse over the account tab and then click on seller dashboard. Ideally there should be nothing in the low rating column. My main personal account has a single 1 or 2 * in item as described (which is odd a I have perfect feedback and no odd mentions of anything not as expected) but my business accounts so far have escaped any low stars.

When I do the above (or what it seems like lol) I don't see seller dashboard as an option :(.

it was free and packed well, how can they leave you 3 or 4 out of 5 for that??? surely it should be 5 out of 5 :(

Well it wasn't free as you included it in the price. Maybe they thought the overall price was high. It could be that you used recorded delivery for a low price item and the buyer thought that was a waste (which it is) and if you hadn't the overall price would have been cheaper. Also as its an average so it may not have been the last person. There are lots of reasons why you may get marked down.If your DSRs are hitting 4.6 you need to be proactive as people have had selling restrictions at that level. Also if they are hitting that level it shows that its not one buyer but you are consistently having buyers unhappy with your P&P so you need to have a good audit of your selling and listings to see if there is something you can do.

My scores are all 4.8 except for P and P which is 4.4 :(. I think one seller who was unhappy with postage cost marked me really low, some marked me ok and a couple marked me decent! I realised my P and P cost were a bit high (although not as extreme as this one person told me in her message to me- after leaving the comment about p and p being high on a an otherwise +ve comment!) and so have tried to reduce where possible- this said Royal Mail is putting postage costs up soon!
Basically I have only 60 ish star positives, and am hoping against hope to get my 4.4 up closer to 4.6!
Dispatch time at 4.8 is annoying too lol, I wait 4 days for people to pay, then dispatch their item in many cases that very morning, that day, or at the latest the next morning (unless sat aft, sun payment as it is not possible to post on sun!)

4,4 is pretty low and will put you lower down in the best match searches. I must admit if I see sellers with 4.4 I think twice before buying from them. Although it sometimes means you get things cheaper as others avoid them. The problem you have is if you are a small seller is keeping them at a good level because you don't have the turnover. So one poor set of DSRs can seriously effect you. Also if you have any other problems (eg a neg or other low DSRs) ebay sometimes put selling restrictions on the account.

What I do a lot on my private account is either offer Free P&P and absorb the costs in my starting price or set my prices lower than the actual cost (and put that in the price). It seems to have worked on that account. What IMO can also effect your P&P DSR is if your costs a noticably higher than the competition due to the postal method. If your sending via recorded on sub £39 items or sending everything 1st class it can make your postal prices seem high.

I send everything 2nd class (other than expensive stuff that needs to go special delivery) with an option to upgrade to 1st. My dispatch star is 5 on my private accounts and 4.9 om my business ones so by doing that I don't seem to have affected them at all.

Its all a bit of trial and error to find out what works for you in keeping your DSRs in good order. It can also depend on the cartegories you list in. We recently bought some baby clothes and looking through the listings a lot of clothes sellers seem to charge High P&P for their items to make up the price/ We bought one thing that was over double the actual cost to post. Hope some of that helps:D

Yes you should still be able to see the dashboard on a private account.

    Thanks Cyberbob.
I do sell a lot of baby/maternity stuff, low starting prices.
I think the thing that annoyed a couple of people was using strong bags for packaging, an am now using plastic envelopes and bubble wrap where needed.
Also now doing p+p at actual cost plus a very small amount for materials.
Also felt bad when something I charged £2 postage for only cost 61p (just managed it) so refunded the lady £1.
I see people charging £5 for p and p and they have ok ratings yet I charged less for a similar sized item (£3 max, now about £2.50) and mine are bad!
    Odd world!
ETA Apparently I am 'not eligible to access this feature'- regarding seller dashboard!

Do you have to have Selling Manager to see the Dashboard? I have SM on both my Business and Personal account so not sure if you can see the Dashboard if you don't have it.

I can see it & only have 28 feedback on this account. So don't have selling manager.
