Morning all.
I'm going to have to join the 'lost the plot' club.
I weighed myself this morning and, after a bit of fun with the scales (I weighed myself 5 times and got 5 different results, ranging from 0.5kg off to 3.5kg back on ), I've settled on a figure of .2kg back on this week.I'm not surprised as I've let things slide since my May Challenge success: I really must do better than this!
I seem to do better with a target to aim for so I'm setting myself a mini-challenge of 1/2kg loss (1lb, more or less) for this week, which will bring me to a nice round 86kg before I go on holiday. (I know I said I was under this on Monday but I think that was a mistake - I haven't been able to get the scales anywhere near that since.)
Today therefore goes:
B - large bowl of shreddies (the last of the packet) with sliced banana and SS milk (does anyone else think of milk with sails and a prow when reading 'SS milk'? No? Just me, then!)
S - apple
L - small mixed salad (lettuce, watercress and radishes); four mini cheese and tomato pizzas (rescued from a work buffet a couple of months ago)
D - small portion meatballs with ratatouille and pasta; couple of glasses of sparkling fruit drink (I usually like a glass or two of wine with dinner on a Friday but it's a habit I'm trying to break as it's bad for me in several ways)
ETA - did I stay away from that nice, chilled bottle of white wine after doing some gardening in the hot sunshine? Did I heck!Oh well, two glasses can't do much harm, I hope.
Have a good day, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi Everyone,
I'm joining WLOS yet again (if you can all stand it) to see if posting my menus daily will motivate me to stick to my plan better. Also implementing proper exercise plan from now on.
So today I will be having
B. Oats & raisins with skim milk
L. Egg sandwiches & an apple
D. Anglesey Eggs & steamed cabbage. (Cheesey mash with leeks and hard boiled eggs stirred in)
P. Yogurt with h/m rhubarb & ginger jam stirred in.
250ml sk milk for drinks.
Off work today so walking dogs into town while visiting a few shops-about 2.5 miles round trip.

What's the matter with all us lot-the-plotters?! You'd think this lovely weather we would be trying our damnedest to get into shape for summer. Every morning I feel strong willed and tell myself I am back on course - but then, come evening, I fall by the wayside yet again! We really must try harder! (Welcome back PJ1, perhaps you will put us to shame and set us a good example!)"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

My problem is that I'm starting to slip into holiday mode - I'm fine during the day while I'm at work but, by the evening, I want to relax and enjoy myself. I need to remind myself that I'm not on holiday yet: I've still got three days of work next week and I'm not actually going away until next Friday afternoon.
Talking of which - I really should go and do some work rather than sitting here reading the forums!Back after a very long break!0 -

oh, and 2 mini muffins with my tea just now

Morning all, sorry to hear so many of you are struggling at the moment. I'll try to give some general advice and encouragement...
It's very hard once you've had the initial easy weight loss when you start, to get used to the slow results that follow, you stop getting the buzz off losing a few lb a week and it begins to not feel worth it (remember even a lb a month is nearly a stone in a year, and a lb a fortnight is a stone in 7 months - I doubt you gained weight much faster than that!)
I recommend looking at the BMR link if you haven't already, as that can be surprising for some.
Finding some exercise that you can enjoy really helps. The c25k I'm doing is fab (got me off my plateau) but running is really not for everyone (my mate started the same time as me but gave up a few weeks ago as it's just not her thing). Exercising means you can eat a little bit more and the weight won't come back so easy because your metabolism speeds up. Try to do something every day that gets your heart racing, even if it's just a walk.
Don't leave yourself hungry. You should aim to be satisfied but not stuffed after eating and never let yourself feel 'starving' because that's when you make bad choices. Keep healthy snacks around and make sure you eat them between meals so you don't have huge portions. Portion control is another thing (that I really struggle with), but if you have to use a side plate for a few weeks then do it!
Breakfast is really important, it doesn't seem to matter how many calories you have at breakfast as you will burn them off during the day and tend to eat less later. Bacon and eggs for brekkie is fine if you have something light like soup for lunch. If it's practical (which it isn't for many of us) have your bigger meal at lunch and a light supper as that also makes a difference to when the calories are used but if you're like me, with a hubby and kids to feed it's not very do-able.
Reward yourself, set mini goals and reward yourself when you reach them... even if you walk past the crisp/choccie isle and buy yourself a magazine/book/nailpolish etc instead.
Factor in a treat each day so you don't feel deprived, a low calorie hot chocolate or a couple of biscuits won't do any harm as long as you avoid the full-barrel binge!
Be patient. We all have bad weeks, I have been losing weight since christmas but I had a month where I lost the plot and didn't lose any, you can come back from it! Don't get demotivated, it happens to us all. Just put it behind you and carry on, remember we are all struggling with the same problems! You didn't get fat overnight and getting to your goal will take time and effort but YOU CAN DO IT AND IT WILL BE WORTH IT.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

RANT ALERT
So much for my good advice! I totally messed up lunch, I am blaming my SIL (not directly!) as she and her foster daughter said they'd be here for midday (we were going to the park together) so I made lunch for all the kids (I knew they were coming straight from the hairdressers and would be arriving at lunch and need feeding, she often feeds my kids so this was fine) and waited, only to get a text at twenty past to say they were only just leaving and wouldn't be here until after 1, could I make her kid a sandwich and they'd meet us there. Well I was well peed off (as I am one of those uber organised and very very rarely late people who finds other people's lateness selfish and rude!) so I ate a load of mini muffin pizzas, cheese and ham tortilla whirls and raspberry flapjack. I didn't even count but I know I feel sick now. Harrummppphh
Have chicken stock and bits of cooked chicken so I will make soup for dinner (NO dumplings!) and hopefully I can squeeze in a run tonight if hubby is back early enough.
EDIT - soup turned into chinese flavoured chicken veg and noodle creation. Which is yummy, more substantial than a soup because I added extra noodles to stop me having bread and butter with it. However I've just read the noodle pack and one serving had 16g of fat in! Why did it never occur to me that noodles may have fat in? With the fat from the chicken stock that I never completely get out it's probably not as low fat as I'd have liked but it is incredibly nutritious!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I saw nothing...
Especially as today has gone like this:
B - Nowt
L - picnic - carrot celery and cucumber sticks, LF houmous, grapes, sugar free squash, cheese and tom sarnie on WM bread
D - Left over picnic - including ham sarnies, sausage roll and crisps
S - none
Exercise - running about like a mad woman at local adventure farm after DS
Not a very well planned or executes day - but I had a blast so what the what!
Hope I haven't done too much damage as weigh day is sunday. Back on it tomo.
