Sparrer you can have the cake! You know in advance so you can plan the rest of your day including the cake, add an extra walk or have soup (sans bread) for lunch. One slice of cake won't make you fat but denying yourself lemon drizzle cake will just make you sad!

Am currently watching DH eat his dinner and wishing I hadn't eaten at 5pm with the kids. I did have a jacket with tuna and a salad mountain so I can probably have some more fruit in a bit, it's just the smell of it I'm not actually hungry!

  • Evening all,

Apologies, i don't get time to post food every day so i hope you don't mind me posting every so often. Lots of new names and old faces each time i do log on, its so interesting to read your individual journeys.

Well, as of today i am 11st 1lb, so 3 pounds lost as part of the may challenge. Am putting this down to starting my training plan (lol by this i mean a piece of paper taped to the fridge saying 'run!') for this year's race for life. I have walked the last two years but would like to jog this year plus i signed up for the 10k instead of 5k. Not until july so i have time to train (they have people with those electric heart charging things on hand lol).

Thanks ragz, your advice re the lemon drizzle is just what I wanted to hear! Can't do the walking but will try to remember what the physio suggested, that is to exaggerate all my movements (not in company, obviously :D) and try to do some stomach crunches.
Supper was quarter of a Little Gem lettuce, mushroom, cucumber, beetroot, half a small jacket and some prawns with Flora extra light and a desertspoon of v low fat mayo. Followed that with two little satsumas and a few grapes, will have a banana before I go to bed.

Just off to do a bit of 'exaggerated movement' before bed, night night all.

    Morning all.

Taliahmai - welcome to the thread! I do know what you mean about not eating enough as it's a problem I tend to have as well, particularly when I'm trying to lose weight. It's another reason I find posting on this thread very helpful, as I can check I'm eating sensibly and not under-doing it in an effort to be healthy.

Thanks, ragz - I think I'm going to adopt that as my motto! :D

One thing I've decided I must do (and I hope posting on here will fix it in my brain :o) is stop weighing myself every day: I know my weight does tend to fluctuate slightly and I'm just depressing myself if it's still the same or has gone up marginally since the previous day. So, from now on I'm weighing myself once a week only. (Where's a 'determined' smiley when you need one? ;))

    Today goes:

B - two small slices of brown bread with a scraping of peanut butter (lovely stuff, but so high in calories :(); apple
    S - pear
L - prawn and avocado sandwich on brown bread; cucumber sticks
    S - bunch of grapes
D - small portion of pasta with a sauce made of two thin rashers of bacon with the fat cut off, Swiss chard, fresh tomatoes and a spoonful of red pesto

I'm going out after work for a friend's leaving do but, in the interests of Being Good, will stick to fruit juice (the fact I've got to drive home afterwards has something to do with it, too ;)).

Exercise will be a walk to the shops (just over a mile each way) at lunchtime as I'm out of vitamin tablets.

    Have a good day, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Morning all!
Breakfast was one slice of toast with marmite and cheese spread and one slice of fruit toast.
    Lunch should be veg soup
Dinner will be sausage casserole with pasta or mash when I decide which (about 7 kilos of sausages to get through but I'm not overly keen and they're rather high fat so trying to find interesting things to do with them!)

Sparrer I am in favour of healthy eating for good rather than very restrictive diets and no one can go without cake for ever! Denial only causes misery and faliure, healthy eating for good means a little of what you fancy too

CCP Peanut butter is actually pretty good for you, despite the calories the fat in it is good fat and it also has some protein.
Fruit juice is great and one glass counts as one for your five a day but it is high in sugar... half a pint of OJ has around the same calories as half a pint of cider or a small glass of wine.
For calories in booze if anyone is interested...

    Good morning

Ragz, you always have such good advice for us all, thanks. Try grilling your sausages first before putting them in your caserole, this will reduce the fat content a bit .... hope I'm not teaching my Grandmother etc!

Made a spag bol yeasterday, but was cooking extra pasta for the dog, (trying to tickle his appetite with low protein food) and I think he got less and we got more than our alloted portion of pasta so perhaps not so good.

Came up with a good wheeze at the supermarket last night, sent DH to get petrol while I stocked up on fruit and veg so didn't put any goodies in the basket, he's really good (bad!) at getting me to buy cakes and pies! Also bought some spring greens and two loaves on offer and will make Ribollita tonight for a hearty but cheap and if I omit the gallon of olive oil, healthy lunch tomorrow.

    See you all later
