i hope this doesnt sound really but what is houmous and can you make it or do you buy it and is it cheap thank you so much i am completely lost x :rotfl:0 -
Aaah don't despair. Firstly why don't you think about joining the grocery challenge thread? This has been a real eye opener for me in terms of what i spend on food! As i've written stuff down I have also realised alot of it is rubbish. We could all do with losing a few pounds/stones. Don't look at the weight loss as a whole but more as 'i'll aim for half a stone by end of january', for example. Otherwise it becomes daunting and you fall off the wagon! Looking at your meals i hate to say they are not great. Tuna pasta bake...if you do it with cheese how about half fat or using mature but a lot less of it? Serve with a big salad. Sausages- the worse thing for weight loss i'm afraid!! Too much crap in them! What about quorn sausages? Not to everyones taste admittably or limit sausages to once a fortnight maybe? I have a kidney problem and my consultant said they are full of salt as well as other stuff....sort of puts me off now! Quiche- really fattening and also if shop bought its full of salt as well. Fried chicken? Need i say more! The old style board is great for meal ideas/ cooking from scratch etc. I would guess that you are eating quite a bit of processed food and maybe just need to go back to basics. This will save you a lot of money. A lot cheaper and a lot better for you. Also i have recently cut right down on bread and have lost 7lbs in 2.5 weeks! Do you drink alcohol/ fizzy drinks etc? All these things add up not just food. Eat breakfast....its not a myth as in weight loss its essential. Have you thought about any slimming clubs? You CAN do it. You WILL do it as you've reached your rock bottom and the only way is up.
I haven't read it but there is also an old style weight loss thread on here too. You're not alone I can assure you. xxxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Honey will be fine - Its lots of carbs that are more of a problem, especially in the evening, as they provide energy and you don't use energy in the evening. Hence having porridge for breakfast (carb but will be worked off during the day), some carbs at lunch (will work them off) much less carbs in the evening as they won't get worked off.
Houmous is a dip made with chickpeas - you can make it but tbh I do buy it ready made from the dips section of supermarket. Its yummy - It is fairly high in calories as it is made with oil but I have it in moderation and only at lunchtimes.
I started that format of eating when I was 'healthy eating' not dieting but found that when I go back to it now, I lose a good amount of weight.
Remember, slow and steady is best for weight loss. You will probably lose several lbs a week to begin with but this will drop to 1-2lbs a week which is a sensible loss. Any more than that and you lose water/muscle so its not worth it.
If you haven't dieted in a long while, you could easily lose 10lbs in the next 7 weeks, perhaps even 14lbs (a stone)
ALSO, do try to incorporate some exercise (hahaha I haven't been out of the house in days and have no intention of it in this weather!). If you can do short bursts of exercise, ie walk for 10-20 mins a couple of times a day this will help massively. If you can do 30 mins walking 3 or 4 times a week it will be even better but anything will help.
OHHHHHH AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - You need to drink 2l of water every day... Chances are that a lot of your excess weight is toxins and fluid retention... Drinking water will flush the system and weight loss will be much faster. You will pee like a donkey until your body adjusts, but persevere
(I used to be an instructor in a gym and worked with large women helping them with weight loss plans so i've no excuse myself! I would nag my ladies tho and they did well)

i didnt know that about sausage and quiche are quorn sausages nice? i would be willing to try them i like a drink at weekend and drink bacardi and coke but i get the normal coke and i suppose that has lots more calories in it i know this sounds bad but i think i may be addicted to coke cause i always have to have it in the house i do drink alot of water but if i a actually thirsty i always reach for the cola. i didnt think my meal plan was too bad but after you saying that it isnt good its really made me think i really need to change my ways my hubby and 2 kids are thin and i am terrified of them putting weight on cause i know how misarable it is i have always been thin and cant beleive that i am this size now thank you for your help i really need to look at new recipes for meals that are going to change things cause i cant go on like this
think i will have to try the quorn sausages cause my kids have to have bangers and mash once a week cause they love it0 -

I like quorn sausages and so do my kids but I know a few people don't!! I drink bacardi and coke too but have diet coke. The problem with fat and thin coke is that I reckon they make me crave other sweet things!! Try not having coke in the house or swap to thin coke or pepsi max. xxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Well done nickynoo
I'm sticking to the strictest bit of the diet i'm following okay, i've had a little too much fat, mostly from mackerel, but i can't have cashews and cheddar in one day again! My flatmate went home and left me 10 eggs!! So I can have lots of egg white omelettes waheyyy
b: souffle omlette & mackerel w/cheddar
l: cottage cheese & cashews
d: mussels, pollock, broccoli
d: s/f mocha & cashewsLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Hi
You're in the best place, join the GC and post in the weightloss thread!
You're not eating anything terribly bad for you, though you must eat breakfast, so are your portion sizes right? ie, do you have 1/2 a chicken breast or a thigh? Or do you have two? if you do mash, just add milk but leave the skins on!
Don't keep your diet too rigid or you'll get bored and it'll go down the bog. Make up a different batch of soup each week and put one portion in the freezer for days when you don't fancy what you had planned.
White fish is a cheap alternative to salmon, flavours really well with sauce/seasoning.
DO you like nutella? 'cause a teaspoon of that in porridge is divineLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0
