  • I got a reply at last and it said pretty much as others have quoted - mine was from Brett!

They said they have cancelled my subscription and hoped I would still read the magazine from time to time!

They still did not explain why others have been allocated the gift which was allegedly allocated on a first come first served basis!

I think I will have to knock this one on the head as a bad job and never buy a copy of the mag again!!

Good luck to others in pursuing this. My brain aches!

Have waited for the call back but no-one bothered so have just rung and can still get no sense or conformation of the gift, just a load of excuses about which company deals with which promotion etc
I was asked to write in and send a copy of the screen shot I have but tbh, I have better things to do with my time. Have told them to cancel it and have done the same with the bank - have also told them there may well be a lot of other people complaining about the same thing too.
It aint over til I've done singing....
  • That is how I feel about it.....better things to do, and it just stresses me out. I can feel my heart racing now!!
  • just rang the CS number and got someone called Andy who told me that the £29.40 stated in the letter is a mistake and will not be collected...he told me that when you pay the £12 your details are encrypted and there would be no way of them then using them at a later date to take a further payment, they are not allowed to save payment details without cardholder consent he tells me.

I ordered on the 8th and was down for a free gift, although this was not mentioned in my confirmation letter. Again, I would not be surprised if I receive nothing...

I ordered on the 8th, had the confirmation email, but not the letter. Emailed to ask when I'm getting the first issue and the gift and got an email back stating...

I have resent you confirmation of your subscription which you should receive within the next 10 days. Your first issue will be cover dated May 2010 and is being despatched at the end of March.
Having checked your account, I can advise that unfortunately this subscription was taken up after the stock of the Benefit gift had depleted, so this would not be included as part of your subscription.

Wish I'd taken a screen shot at time... hmm.

EDIT: I have replied saying I want to cancel as I didnt think it was fiar how people who have ordered after are getting it and that it was only reason I'd subscribed..

Why are the emails explanations a) so different and b) so badly written?

    I got the response;
We are sorry that you were disappointed with our previous reply, however, gifts are subject to availability as advised in our Terms and Conditions. We are unable to advise as to why people who orderd the gift after you may receive this gift.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused in this matter.

So basically they're totally clueless and incompetent!! Hope they've gotten a lot of grief about this mess up.

    Hi,

I've just called the cs number (01444 475675) about the £29.40 and the lady I spoke to said that this was an error and no second payment will be taken, just the £12.

I also asked about the Benefit free gift and she said that I wasn't down for one so added it to my order and said it should be delivered in 28 days.

Very strange, glad I queried it although I wouldn't be suprised if I don't receive them.

(Ordered on the 6th, email didn't mention Benefit stuff, received confirmation letter this morning saying first mag will be May issue.)

(Deep breath) Was called back yesterday with them saying that the free gift offer subscription was actually £19.99, would I like to pay the extra £7.99 for the FREE GIFT? Err, no, I said because it was def. £12. They asked me to tell them all the details of where I saw the offer etc, but before I had chance to get the computer on and check the details the lady phoned me back saying that her colleague had just told her that the Benefit stuff was out of stock anyway, was I happy to carry on with the subscription? As it's actually a pressie for my Mum I said yes anyway but these people are having a joke, surely? Paying for the free gift? If I had the time I'd write in and complain. It's quicker to write on this forum tho, I feel better now!

I think Martin should look into dodgy magazine subscription offers..!
  • I will be interested to hear if anyone actually gets the gift atall!
