...and are we going to have a visitation here from DH (aka Acetate Monkey) with his own comments?:D

Reet...will go off and make note of carrot cake recipe - with one teeny amendment - gas Mark 4 is 180C for those of us with electric ovens.
  • Will try the carrot cake tomorrow (hopefully) may have to swap orange for lemon as have no oranges and not that fond of them. The garam masala is an interesting addition.

  • Hi there, Weezl's D(?)H here.
Well, having deliberated, cogitated and digested I can say it's not very nice. No, I think that you should all send any you make to me. Honestly, you don't want to try it. I'll save you from it!! ;)

indeed! I was worried about that, but I can only queeze in one spice blend into the budget :rotfl:and my lovely grannie used to put black pepper in the christmas cake because of the nutmegginess, so I figured it would be ok :)

As hubby has been so nice, I shall be more rigorous in critique: I feel that I can taste the bicarb, so even though it may hamper the rising, I'd suggest that we drop the bicarb to 2-2.5tspns?

    What does everyone else think?

Just amended my note of the recipe to 2 tsps of bicarb then - I thought that was rather more bicarb than I woulda used myself - so that'll be better methinks. I have been known to taste bicarb myself before now in recipes if theres too much in there.
