I have some info on sourdough made from a piece of dough. I am too tired to type it out tonight so will try and do it tomorrow. I think it might be easier and quicker than trying to make a starter from scratch.

Right i have just placed my order with Asda to deliver on Mon and for 2 it comes to £43.62 but this is missing pigs liver (not in stock) dried peas (ex wont touch them) the spices ( I have them in stock) the Butternut Squash and kidney beans (ex again) , chicken stock cubes and vinegar (I have) so whilst under the £50 mark would only just if i had ordered everything.
I will be starting planner on Tues as well so if anyone wants to ask questions i will be around from about 6pm.

Weezl did you get a chance to go over the PM from the other day? Do you need me to make any adjustments or have you ideas of your own?

Ooh, I can positively feel the love radiating from the thread!

We had a work meal out tonight so was at the Chinese, certainly not frugal but I definitely ate until full, I have a feeling that if I lean over now egg fried rice may come out of my ears.

I must confess I am a little envious of you guys running the planner; I love living in a shared house but this is one of the times I feel I miss out on the freedom of not sharing food. I shall be with you in spirit anyhow!

I feel, having had a couple of malibu and diet cokes, I need to say how great I think everyone on this thread has been and especially how much of an inspiration you are Weezl, I think you have persuaded all of us that the way the world appears to work is not all it seems and that we don't need to buy into the consumer culture and in fact there is a great deal of satisfaction to be found in doing entirely the opposite

    Big hugs all around!:)

note to testers: when your shopping does come, please soak 500g dried peas and 140g dried chickpeas :)

    Bossy weezl x

Or - a get ahead batch cooking advice for people with big freezers only - soak the lot in one go, as I always do, then boil all in one go and freeze in portions (And yes, I am still trying to produce a working batch cooking guide for Shirl and you all, but DD has got herself a Vista virus on her laptop, and getting rid of that wee beastie has now taken priority, I'm afraid :( ).

Slight potential problem here though, now I think about it - if they are all soaked and cooked at once, their weight changes so it might be slightly difficult to work out portion size equivalents. Does anyone know how the weight of a cooked pulse relates to the weight of a dried one ?

sorry shanks:o I have slightly put the writing tasks to the back burner while I get a meal plan and shoppingh list and recipes out to the testers, as that one feels most time dependant.

If it's ok with you I'll come back to that one on weds after I know the testing is ok?

Your thoughts are great though, as ever :)
