    Hey Frankie,:D

What i meant is I am attempting to lose some weight at the mo just by healthy eating and exercise so I think this planner will help keep me on track for the healthy eating.

Yeah when are we going to meet up? If we go this fast on the planners they will be done by next month lol and we will have nothing to talk about!!

possible alternatives price-wise would be red or white cabbage, swede, or sweet potato. Do any of those appeal Frankie?

edit: it currently goes in the spanish omelette/fritatta, a possible risotto, hang on there might be something else...

edit again: I seem to be serving it alongside the chicken and onion 'suet'crust pie :)

I don't think I can match it up exactly nutritionally tho, but I can give you some handy linkies if you'd like? :)

I was hoping we could meet in London in the Autumn and go to the ministry of food exhibition at the Imperial war museum :D

weezl I may have a swede kicking around somewhere. I've got roast pork for dinner tonight so I may give it a go tomorrow. Is that ok?

What kind of dates are we looking at or are we going to decide closer to the time?

sweet potato makes an EXCELLENT chili-stew type thing. I make mine with black beans, but I'll bet kidney beans work in a pinch? Make it with chili, cumin, lemon juice and serve over rice. Is good with coriander but I understand we might not be able to stretch that far :).

Thanks weezl, I feel marginally better. I do have to say I know you're busy but you've been missed quite a bit on the other thread :o

So long as you lot come to London before I go back to work!! So your deadline is late Sep, okay? :D

    it sounds lovely aless :)

Erm, the storecupboardy challengy bit is where I'm left with a few odd ingredients and am trying to make a meal out of them, so I'm afraid I don't have any of the things left that you've suggested! :rotfl:

but I think if you post the recipe we could use it in no 2 or no 3 and our now massive frugal recipe book ;)

Awww that's nice to know I'm missed on the parent club thread. I sometimes feel an oddball over there! And as a less frequent poster it's really nice to know it's noticed when I go off for a bit! I'll pop on asap and give an update :) thanks for letting me know :D

    storecupboard challenge anyone?

    160g butternut squash
    500g rice
    80 ml oil
    80g mature cheddar
50g dried peas (100g if using tins to save time)
    the usual spices :)

can someone attempt a risotto with the above? to feed 4...

    :D:D:D:D:D

I'll pop into Asda on my way back from work and give it a whirl tonight if I manage to get a squash. Wasn't sure what I was gonna cook tonight anyways - the meal plan says "pasta", but I kinda didn't quite work out what we were gonna have the said pasta with ;)

Thanks so much to everyone for the batch cooking tips - keep 'em coming, please - anything that could save time/energy is worth including, even if as an optional.

Regarding meeting up with people, I met my OH online, and we have since made numerous friends on messageboards that have spilt over into real life, so I am certainly looking forward to adding you lot to the number :D

Have I mentioned these before? Spinach_Dumplings

I adjusted the recipe to use a whole 800g can of Natco spinach. I also use a tomato sauce using a can of toms rather than the yogort one. I have just costed it, and with 50g dried weight rice each it works out to 31p a portion.

The adjusted recipe makes 36 dumplings.

I showed my coeliac brother how to make them and he regularly does them for himself now

Wondered if it might be of any interest for the vegan plan? They freeze well BTW

anything I can help you with today Weezl?

Raymond Blancs bread last night looked wonderful.

He also had a go at a gluten free one, and I thought, great, could do this for my brother. But they glossed over that one, so I don't think it was very successful. Bread being the great unachievable for coeliacs of course
