Just to say hi:wave: to those who've sent me PM's wondering where I am/if I'm okay

....still around on MSE...and still noting down recipes. Just found a couple for me on:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2293735

Yay - think I mighta found me a suitable muesli bar recipe I've been looking for. The one in post 2 might do the trick - in my case with the margarine replaced with butter and the sugar deleted.:)

Have noted down the pumpkin cookie recipe too - thinking "I could always substitute some other veg/fruit for the pumpkin if I dont have any of that":)

OK time to answer the big question, are we going to start rocking with this on the 1st April (Wednesday coming!) for our volunteers? All fool's day eh? How apt!

My answer, yes with an 'if' or no with a 'but' :rotfl:

Poohbear, Allegra, frankie, ariarnia, artybear (howlin, hornetgirl and shanks I know you will be adapting things and following along in your own way so I wasn't sure whether to include you in this question!)
and anyone else I've missed (cheese rinds!) Please answer the following question:

If you were going to begin this on wednesday, when would you need your shopping list by? I'm assuming we will shop weekly, and that the first week may be slightly more money than a quarter of the budget to allow for buying some of the bulkier items and seasonings etc... All the items should be available from asda, if you are using other supermarkets it's possible you may need to shop around a bit. Going to another shop looks like it should only take you a max of 10% over budget.

Lesley, what time if any do you have (without depriving DP, DD, DGD and all your real life activities!) over this weekend? If we are going to begin something on wednesday, I would really value going through things with you to ensure they are water tight, but I fully understand if this is not possible. Please don't experience my keenness as a pressure.:o

weezl My answer to the above question would probably be by Tuesday. I usually shop on a Monday.....having just thought about it...how much preparation cooking is there to do before the start on Wednesday?
In terms of bread, pate, spreads etc. Were you expecting that to start on Wednesday as well?

In regards to the Cloudy Lemonade you mentioned earlier. I can but give these things a go and then let you know how they are received. I found a recipe for orange cordial that seemed to have just orange juice and sugar as it's main ingredients, if that helps?

if we're ready to begin on weds I shall make sure that weds to fri are 'cooking light' the main thing which would need doing tuesday afternoon evening would be to bake a batch of 4 loaves. How does that sound Frankie? :)

cordial wise, I'm quite keen to use one which maxes the whole fruit, which the cloudy lemonade does, but do please post the orange recipe and i'll certainly have a lookie! (sorry, I'll explain further, with Lemons, there is a great deal of extra goodness available in the pith and zest. It does need sweetening to make it palatable, but it is there for the grabbing! DH would like me to add (and maysmummy will agree I'm sure!) that it's best if the squash is consumed with meals (to avoid tooth decay) but that if your children are unwilling to do that another possibility is to suggest having a little sloosh round of your mouth with water after a glass of squash. (this is not because the cloudy lemonade is particularly tooth rotting, DH reckons it's a good deal better than diet coke!) I can write more about this if people would like :)

I'm conscious that I do a lot of concerned thinking and research about the health of the planner behind the scenes. This is not to be secretive, it is because the thread would be enormous, my fingers would hurt from typing and you'd all get bored! But if anyone has a concern and would like me to share what research I've done, then I am open to that :D (not that I think Frankie was concerned about the lemonade, it just reminded me of something I've been meaning to say:rotfl:)

And finally for a bit, because Fergie is stirring from morning nap: does anyone have any googling space today to look at GDAs for soluble and insoluble fibre and the good providers of those in our diet?

    TIA

    Love weezl xxx

weezl This was the recipe I was looking at. http://www.towards-sustainability.com/2008/07/homemade-fruit-cordials-nablopomo-10.html

My children are used to drinking soft drinks, so anything is going to be a shock to their system! I reckon they can put up with anything for a month. I may need a month between each planner, though, so they don't think I'm trying to kill them!!

Is there a Kit List sorted somewhere? I'll probably need to look at that beforehand too. I can't remember who mentioned it before, but I'm also slightly nervous of the bread making! Other than that, what you've said so far sounds fine.

weezl I've got 2 metal, non stick loaf tins. I've found a friend who has a pudding dish and she says it feeds 6. I think I'm just going to borrow hers, but thank you for the offer. I really appreciate it :)
