Arty, when you have a mo, please can you replace the versions in the index with these slightly better ones? post numbers 3438 onwards :A:A:A

Howlin, I know real life is pretty busy for you atm and full so please feel no pressure, but when you have a mo, the alfredo and I would value a bit more of your wisdom
and I lost a post yesterday but it said welcome back to HGL and IOIWE and phizzimum, we've missed you:D
Weezl, what wisdom would you value. My brain is sausage today but I will try. I did wonder though that with her £3 would it be cheaper for Shirl to buy stock than herbs?Sealed pot member 735

hello Howlin! Can you just look at the alfredo for me, am I right in thinking this is a 4 person batch?
xxx
Weezl, yes I'd say that is a four person batch. That's probably about the amount of pasta I use for 2 because I never weigh it and there are always 3 generous portions each plus leftovers.Sealed pot member 735

Weezl and everybody
I have told quite a few people about this project now and some have been interested, some dismissive. However a topic keeps coming up (probably because I am at Uni) and that is
-Is any debt good debt?
A few people have felt this may be a slightly judgemental plan claiming that uni fees and mortgage are debts too so would you frugal people not take on such things?
I know this is off topic so please feel free to ignore me, I was just a bit stumped when they asked this and wasn't sure how to explain the project then.
Sorry edit-actually I did know how to explain the food project it was more the reasoning behind why some of my internet friends (hope I can call you that) are so anti debt to the point of making a plan and testing etc....

Weezl, have had another look for the veggie burgers, should it be the ones called Spicy Vegan Rissoles?
I can put the data in for those, and check the latest recipes and whizz over the spreadsheet if you like. You can then copy the columns over if, as it sounds, you have been tweaking today
Would that be helpful, if not, I'll leave well alone0 -
... and aless and frankie just to check, you're both thinking of this being a frittata to serve 4?
Sorry, it's just I know yours was 1.5 eggs per person Aless, whereas this is only 1 so just wanted to check we were still singing from the same hymn sheet!
Weezl i only used 1 egg per person for my omelette and it was more than enough and we are greedy. Look at my sig if you dont believe me:rotfl:0 -

gosh that's really interesting!
I'd not thought it seemed judgemental of debt per se but I can understand that if you try to help someone get rid of something then that might sound like you think they morally oughtn't to have it.
I think for me it's not about 'morally oughtn't' to have debt, it's about I think you will feel freer and happier without it. Like if I discovered Fergus chewing something the neighbour's cat left by the back door:eek:, I'd probably say 'oh no! don't touch that!' and run to take it off him...' but it wouldn't be about a moral oughtn't that he had disobeyed. It would be because I love him...
We have a mortgage. DH had student loans.
I still wanted rid of them but I didn't feel I had done wrong by getting them.
What is bad debt?
For me it is the kind of debt we are lured into unwittingly and can't pay back and then feel trapped by.
It's a very good question though arty. I think I probably do sound critical of debt. I think I am at a political level. I don't think I am at a personal level. I'd rather society had a shake up and we could live within our means. But not because not to is naughty or unethical. Just because I think life would be happier.
If anyone reading the thread feels judged by me, I'd really like to say that I'm truly sorry.
Unless you are Gordon Brown or Alistair Darling, in which case , dear minister, I do have some suggestions for you. Have a seat sir.... :rotfl:

oh that's so kind lesley! I've tried out yet another version of the rissoles today (causing the lovely ISOM to question whether our guts are affected by onions:rotfl:she sampled them for lunch) because I wanted to try the ready brek as a thickening and binding agent for them, but I've entered that now... I would appreciate fresh eyes on where I've got to if you'd like to take any other recipes forward?
ISOM, re the farting, I'm thinking we just hook bob up to a methane generator of an evening and let him fart them all their central heating for the night?
I think it's a goer? Non?

Great! that's much better! lesley I thinkthis is why the stock checker looks so low on mustard, so it should be 2.5g per teaspoon. YAY!
thought we were going to have to buy her 4 tubs of it a month:eek::eek::eek:

Yum
I made half a portion.... as per the "instructions" - except, I added the grated carrot to the omlette pan. I didn't quite have enough carrot, only 80g, so I added a few mushrooms, that needed to be used up.
I served it with potato salad (my own version) and a salad
edit... I tried to post a picture... but I am having a brain block
Oh... worked it out now0
