Plus , I might be wrong about this , but I thought that only certain forms of calcium can be used by the body

oops missed this, it's calcium chloride, so the calcium salt, once hydrated, liberates to release the calcium making it available to the body.

From what I've read it's this compound that is the one that the spring water danone make to be high in calcium also contains.

So I feel pretty comfortable including it unless anyone knows otherwise?

Pelirocco, would you fancy ringing asda at all :)?

weezl I put a 'splash' of milk in the omlette. I can't imagine it was more than 1 or 2 tbs.
Sorry I can't be more exact.

    Sweetcorn fritters

    For the fritters

    100g/3½oz SR flour
salt and freshly ground black pepper
    1 tbsp sugar
    75ml/2½fl oz milk
    300g frozen sweetcorn kernels
125-150ml/4½-5fl oz vegetable oil, for frying
    half teaspoon garam masala

    1. For the fritters, mix the flour, salt and freshly ground black pepper, garam masala and sugar together in a bowl.
    2. Gradually add the egg and milk mixture to the dry ingredients and combine to form a batter.
    3. Place the sweetcorn kernels and onions into a separate bowl and add just enough batter to the mix to bind them.
    4. Heat the oil in a frying pan, and drop in a good spoonful of the mix. Cook for two minutes on each side, drain on kitchen paper and keep warm until all the batter is used up.

Sorry to ask - but where is the egg in the list of ingredients??

lol weezl...it might be water differences?? Very strange to be honest, as the recipes are actually quite similar except mine's kneadeded & yours isn't. Very strange indeed!! :rotfl:

    good oh!

Potty what is it about the potato salad that's not very nice? Is there a way we can tweak it? Just wondering if Bob et al might feel the same as you....

    xxx

I wonder if you could have different variations depending on people's preferences. I know that sounds complicated but hear me out...
Cook omelette with potatoes and sweetcorn in, serve with peas and carrots

I would probably prefer to have the potatoes and peas in it and serve it with carrots and sweetcorn.

Will give some feedback on the onion tart experiment when I get home! Suffice to say there have been no queues of men lining up for a snog today after my onion consumption yesterday :)

    I hear you...

my slight reservation is that the amount of sweetcorn if served as a side dish is reeeeeeeeally weeny! but that's up to shirl really isn't it, as you say I guess she'll adapt the recipes to her own tastes :)

Sorry, wasn't suggesting changing the recipe at all, I just don't think it is a problem if someone thinks that the potato salad is not for them as with those ingredients you could put the onions and some of the cooked potatoes in the omelette along with the sweetcorn etc etc...
Have to say I was impressed in the end with the vegan pastry, though the amount of oil we are going through in my house is stupendous with all these recipes, tempted to swipe some beautiful yellow rapeseed when I next go past a field and crush my own ;)

Just read your modification to your post, I love a nice poached egg... :D
