reading deer hunting with jesus on the train which made me think Weezl and Ceridwen several times
Hadnt heard of that book - just did a quick google to Amazon - and thought "oh right....ah that phrase "economic conscription" = "wage slavery" by another name I guess....

Had a go at the Baked Bean Curry tonight. I wouldn't say it was like a curry though and I ended up making it too watery (rinsing out the cans os style!). I was going to make a half portion as there was only me eating, but after putting the 1/2 onion portion in, ended up adding the full spices, so scared of it being too spicy, I found some shallots to make it up. So its was made with 2 small red onions and 7 shallots! I used french mustard rather than dried mustard, so that might be why its mild and more liquidy, don't know. Anyway I liked the taste, unfortunately with me faffing about with the extra shallots, I let my grains cook dry and ended up eating it with 4 leftover yorkshire puddings instead! Will be using the rest for a toast topping, as its like a bean and tomato toast topping to me. I don't seem to be very good at cooking lately. Still no waste, will be eaten, even if its not with rice.
I agree with a earlier comment, that it could do with some green veg with it.

Is there a survey for chicken pie yet? The results were not very helpful here as they all (four men) said that both pies were lovely and that they couldn't chose between the two pastries.
I forgot to add earlier that we brushed them with a beaten egg which would not be a frugal use of an egg. I would brush with water to give a slight golden colouring, and have done so a lot in the past.
They all enjoyed the slightly fermented crab apple jelly tarts, for after, with the left over pastry.

Weezl, thanks for sharing so much of your philosophy on why debt impinges on society. If you have the time and the inclination I (and many others I'm sure) would be very interested to hear what level of debt (secured and unsecured) you feel unacceptable to society?
Specifically, what debts do you envisage Bob and Shirley having at the point at which you would like them to grab this rope?Murphy was an optimist!!!0 -
So now £5 over budget.
If we sort out Ready Brek alternative this will help. Also Bramley Apples may be better value if bought in packs, but no indication of pack weight, so thought loose was probably best ??
You are very welcome Weezl, can't help very much with other stuff.
Will try and gets pigs liver tomorrow and let you know how I get on.0
