weezl, quickly - I've seen collard greens in the "world foods" (i.e., Caribbean) section of the supermarket. tinned, so not nearly as nice as cooking from fresh. Kale is lovely, too. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! :D

I have been thinking about my baked bean curry disaster and thought i'd share my thoughts. In all other indian dishes I do, I add the spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, fennel to the oil as its warming, before adding the other ingredients and the ground gara masala, always gets added at the end of cooking. Should this dish be cooked this way with the chilli and mustard powder in the oil at the beginning and the gara masala at the end for flavour and fragrance? Still would of made no difference to me making it too watery with rinsing out the 3 cans and adding this liquid, but it might of been spicier, don't know. Any thoughts from any curry experts?

Yes Kale is a good calcium choice, but can't be bought frozen. Perhaps it can be bought fresh and frozen for later use. Savor cabbage and brocoli can be bought frozen, so perhaps these are good calcium choices.

that's a great help thank you!

I had no idea about the zinc for example and personally that helps me a lot. I currently take a very high calcum supplement in excess of 2500 daily along with my usual diet, this is because of some research I did about vitamin supplementation prior to labour. However if this leaves me with depleted zinc then I won't heal so well afterwards. So that's really good food for thought (no pun intended!).

Nowt to do with Bob and Shirley (although Jenny may need to know :rotfl:) but you've helped me a lot there! xxx

Here is some more help then along those lines......

    ZINC

    murrell, if you're still around!

vegan question: if planner 3 is true vegan, should I only look for veg society approved goods, I fear that might not be doable in budget...

I was thinking of planner 3 being mostly vegan, but I wonder if that's going to be perceived as a cop out!

example: tescos own version of ready brek contains calcium carbonate, but we don't know if this from animal sources.

however, this is also true of the calcium in bread flour, which is added by law but not listed as an ingredient.

    Do you see my dilemma/confusion?!
