I have just had 4 busy work daysso not even had a sniff at logging on..
I hope everyone is well...
I am on page 67 just now, just trying to catch up.
I will have another wee half hour reading....
Then I will be back tomorrow for some more surveying0 -
Im tired now after reading this thread for the last few hours but I have definitely come away inspired with some new recipes. Im gonna start right back at the beginning and try out the thick onion tart this weekend. Im currently spending £70 per month on food for me but I've learnt some new tricks already.
Thanks Weezl!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

Welcome back potty nice to see you again there is a lot to catch up on. I logged off for about 3 hours and came back to 3 pages so i dont envy you but it is interesting (sometimes a bit complicated hats off to the clever ones) and always enjoyable. Hear from you soon0 -
Otherwise how much does a cow cost?
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
That made me chuckle Fire Fox :TI think nearly everything has been tested once! Just needs a bit more opinion. Most tested have been delia tart, carrot cake erm.... potty, what have haven't you had feedback on?
xxx
I have just checked the surveys, as to how many have been answered...
Of the ones I have set up only 4 have been completed....
Which are .......
Carrot cake
weetabix cake
sweetcorn fritters
onion tart
In total, for the all above recipes, 50 surveys have been completed...
I am not sure if thats good, bad, or otherwise yet...
The carrot cake and onion tart have the most replies, 23 and 16 respectively... but these 2 recipes, if memory serves me right, were first out there, if you know what I mean.
I need to spend a few hours sorting through the results so far for these, just so we know, whats hot, and whats not
There have been no results at all for the following
Apple curd
Sweetcorn soup
Allegras Risi e bisi
Onion Bhaji
Cauliflower cheese
Pasta Puttenesca
These are certainly further down the list on the post, so appear to have been over looked slightly so far... but its early days, so I dont think it will be long before they are getting made, and the surveys filled in
Also.... another thing that I am not so sure on...
Is if everyone testing, is actually filling in a survey for that recipe ?
As that will alter the way things progress, if you know what I mean.
But again... it is early days..
Ok... back to a bit more catching up... I might be back
Oh... edit
Loving the London idea... if I am off, I would love to join you0 -

Can you fill in the survey please Lesley ?
The link for it can be found on Post 4hornetgirl wrote: »Survey problem alert.
I made the weetabix cake today, and when I try to complete the survey, it tells me my answers to the last two questions are in an invalid format. How do I need to enter them please?
I have just had a quick look at the survey, and there should not be any issues with answers...
I also have checked the answers, for the last 2 questions, and they look fine ... the only thing I can think of, is how long was your answers ?
The default maximum is 100 characters, so if it was longer than that, it may have done the "computer says no" malarky
I am still catching up.. and right in the middle of calcium gate :D
I am kinda at the very good end of four consecutive 10 hour shifts, after a glass of fermented purples... and I am not too good on the figures that the nutritional boffins astound us with... and it may have already been said after page 75, though, I'm not there yet
... but is calcium not quite high in tinned fish, that has had the bones left in, ie salmon ??:)
Ok back to reading....0 -
I feel your pain fire fox, I feel like I'm on a course called 'death by extreme geekery, deep maths and spreadsheets beyond the dawn of time' :rotfl:
I dont think you will be in there on your own:rotfl::rotfl::D
Great recipe, and I'll make it again. Thank you. I'll fill in the questionnaire this evening when the rest of the family has tried it.

I need to try this myself, as it would be fab for me, for early shift breakfasthomegrown_life wrote: »honey and raisin cereal bars
I baked these yesterday and we all had one after lunch today. My DH, who needs bits like these in his lunch box really liked it, gave it 10 out of 10DS liked it but I think was expecting something a bit crunchier and gave it 5 out of 10. DD loved it, and gave 10, I only had a half piece and really liked it even though I am not a raisin / dried fruit lover.
Overall a great recipe, really easy to do. I made half quantities and made 16 bars. I'll definitely make it again, maybe adding some seeds and other types of dried fruit for a bit of variety.
Soon to be a survey on this in Post 4:D
Edit...note to self page 81...
Gotta go to sleep now, shaky legs0 -

Dh and I both think it needs smoked bacon, fresh peas and parmesan or strong cheese to give it a better flavour.
Youngest did eat most of what I put on his plate but both men left some as they were fed up with it (in both senses). I only had a small amount but I think I should have eaten a bit more because I feel hungry now 1 1/2 hours later. We are having pudding in a mo so that will help.
We would eat it again if we had nothing else but would try to put something in to give it more taste.. FWIW, I really admire that you were willing to try this out for the sake of this project. It speaks a lot about your generous heart!
It makes me remember what I did with DH about some of the recipe tests, and I wonder if this might help....
DH tried the pasta con lomoni without the parmesan or peas. His verdict: Weezl! It's just greasy pasta!? But I had kinda expected this... Whipped away bowl, garnish with parmesan and peas, return bowl to table. 'owzat? says weezl? Mr Weezl: Oh I can eat it now, it's ok!

Mostly I've seen that bicarb will destroy vitamin c when added to vegetables (wonders if the steeping tablet is bicarb and can be liberated from the dried peas.... if I wasn't in bed I'd check the box downstairs).
*technical bit alert* Anyway, I also stumbled across sodium ascorbate which is made when you mix ascorbic acid (or vitamin C) with Bicarbonate of Soda. I know we're planning Bicarb and lemon juice but lemon juice will have ascorbic acid so wondered if same thing should be left?? But I am out of my depth here and wondered if anyone with any chemistry knowledge knew any more. All I can find is bicarb destroys vit c, but something should be left and with the knowledge above, well I was just curious.
I may google more in the morning, but like I said I'm in danger of being lost!!
We must tie a rope to HGL next time we send her into the depths of google. We cannot afford to lose our best soldiers into a search engine! I forbid it!
Avocet, thanks for the clarifying questions. I shall remove all references to items beginning with 'CH'- what an odd kind of detail blindness to develop? Is it pregnancy related? I would not be able to see things beginning with 'CH'.
Functional for post-pregnancy weight loss for I shall be unable to see chips or chocolate....
Dysfunctional for being a good mummy as I will not be able to see children!
Anyhow.... ahem, on with the show. We can make a chutney with whatever apple we have after apple curd double batch, raisins, onions, carrot, vinegar and spices. So subject to leftovers I think he can stay.
The other things you are absolutely right, we need to remove them. And now we have many holes in our planner

Thanks. I'm kinda hoping you're right but also feeling that I have actually taken something simple (feed your family healthily!) and made it awesomely complicated!
But I like your version more
