Well, I'd our interview yesterday and the headmaster said he would be 'suprised' if our daughter didn't get a grammar place 'somewhere' with her score of 101. I think he was tactfully saying that our first choice school might be a non starter. I feel now that theres nothing more can be done, but the waiting. From what I picked up from both him and another mother, who's child attends a different primary school, was that if your child is not accepted to any of the schools on your preference list, they would be allocated a place in your local high school. I could have picked that up wrongly, but if it's true, I would suggest people cover all bases on the preference form if you don't want this to happen to your child.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

How come few parents are not mentioning the GL Assessment results, the distribution of scores in that test, the facility scores of the questions or the distinct possibility that the test was set at the wrong level? 3000 out of 6500 with A grades and almost perfect scores in maths. Come on now folks!
That doesn't seem to be a massively different percentage of A grades compared to the old 11+, given that a smaller % of children sat the tests this year. Do we know how many P7 children there are this year, and then could work out the total % that ended up with grade A in GE or top percentile in AQE?0 -
Parents should visit the National Grammar Schools website and join as affiliates for £10. It will be money well spend if you want to save grammar schools from the grasp of desperate politicians and foolish headteachers. You can be sure you won't be getting a pension out of this.
I'm pretty sure this site does not allow you to solicit in this way. Your post has been reported.0 -
I find the tone of PACENI posts to be extremely provocative and very unhelpful to ordinary parents with genuine concerns. I suggest you keep your comments for legitimate political forums rather than use this one to persue your agenda. We are trying to support each other , you should remember that.0

Well said :T. I think most users on this thread are seeking the best for their child and do not want to get drawn into the Polictical debate.
11+ is gone. AQE represented the only/main way of a grammar school place. I choose to enter my child in AQE exams and hope now she has scored enough to get a place at her 1st choice grammar. This thread provides fantastic information and support to AQE parents, and thanks to all for that. Politics has it's place -But don't think this is the place for it.0 -
Based on the %s scoring A, B1, etc in the GL Assessment tests, here are the grade boundaries for the AQE tests:
A - 103
B1 - 99
B2 - 95
C1 - 91
C2 - 85 (this is only an estimation!)0 -
PACENI - you clearly have a particular line to peddle, please stop hijacking this forum. The tone of your posts is not helpful to parents who are posting here looking for advice and support. Many are anxious over the whole fiasco but that does not mean we want to engage in your particular line of argument. It we wanted your opinion we can quite easily google your site and post there (from a parent with no connections to the teaching profession).0

[In the old 11-plus 25% were awarded A grades] - this statement needs clarified
in 2008 14800 sat the 11+, out of a possible 22970 who were eligible.
5913 got A's i.e. 25% of those who COULD have sat it and 40% of those who ACTUALLY sat the exam0 -

Where did you derive your grade boundaries nonsense?. PACE suggest that if you have genuine concern for children and their right to compete for a grammar school place then you should check facts before posting statements that are inaccurate and misleading. I'm sure you know how to contact AQE office. Call Billy Young and ask him to confirm your claim. In the meantime PACE suggest that parents ignore the misinformation posted by pushy parents with links to the teaching profession.
Before you accuse parents of 'nonsense' perhaps you should take care of your house first , see quote from PACENI website
"Unlike other campaighners who pretend to represent parental views PACE does not have a competition of interest in respect of schools and teachers employment, pay and pension or faith and sectoral interests.":mad:0
