  • I for one hope you all get the schools you want in Bangor so that you don't come into the equation for Grosvenor. :rotfl::rotfl: Are there just the 2 grammars in Bangor - Bangor Grammar and Glenola or am I forgetting about one?
  • Other schools that would draw people from the Bangor area would include Sullivan, Regent House, Bloomfield and Strathearn.

I would say though that Grosvenor, Campbell, RBAI, Vic & Methody would take also as people choose what suits due to work patterns - so if travelling in to town you might choose a school on the way to work!

    Who knows though....
  • yes we just have the 2 which is never good as i wouldnt want my child travelling afar for school although grammar has in the past taken c grades as some1 has said . just depending on the amount of A grades and B1s there is . ive been dissapointed before as my sons B2 grade went down 2 distance 2 the school which is so unfair . so im hoping my 113 score wont be a problem this time fingers crossed lol xx
  • hi everyone does anyone know if a score of 97 is good enough for a grammar many thanks
  • A principal of a grammar which I spoke to said "he would not rule out a score of 95 being sufficient to achieve a place."
  • 97 will be fine for some grammars - it depends how many apply. Some grammars are also filling places from non academic tests (BGS) which will allow anyone to get in

'P7 teacher' in this forum comments on the influence of age on the final age adjusted score in GL. I suspect it maybe the same for AQE. If all younger children are lifted into a higher band by virtue of age this will displace others. I think AQE should also have issued raw scores. Does anyone know what the influence of age has on final score in GL for a July vs. June birthday with the same score. When and how have these templates been created and are they definitely applicable. Are any other teachers out there surprised by the rank order in their classes at present, with younger children in the class being placed above or alongside other older more capable children for the very first time. Do we need to review the issue of age adjustment now that we have seen the GL raw scores. Again this is addressing the issue of the magnitude of the influence and not the principle of adjustment.

The age issue affects boys more than girls. Girls mature much faster and learn quicker in my opinion. Thats until they hit about 16 whne they go haywire lol
