Which grammar school principal confirmed that? I heard (from my neighbour whose son goes to Inchmarlo) that Victoria's top mark was 123??

someone at the meeting knew the girl in victoria prep who got the score (though not sure if there is more that one person that got it) and the principal of methody who obviously had all the scores confirmed it was the highest score with another parent (he didn't know who or the school)

Our head teacher had told us in June that a child would need to be getting an actual percentage of 75 plus to get a grammar school place, how would I work this out? (And I went to grammar school) Also, what will happen in May if your child has not been accepted to any of their school choices??

I don't think you can work out the actual percentage without knowing the raw scores.

If you have a daughter and live in Belfast I would ring Victoria and ask for the percentile rank even if you don't intend going there.

127 is without a doubt enough for first choice.

I have a son. Oh I know 127 is definitely the best but this mum seemed oblivious to just how well her child had done. She seemed just as concerned as the rest of us. If my child had 127 I'd be celebrating rather than being on here all day looking for more information to misconstrue. :rotfl:

AQE told me today that "a few" achieved 128.
  • A child in my daughters year, with a score of 115, was told they would certainly get into their grammar of choice and only put down two grammars, leaving the other spaces blank! Good grief, but I think my head might explode.
Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:
    Debt free date April 2016!!!!
  • My advice is leave nothing blank and don't assume anything. I would hope 115 would be enough too but at the end of the day we have all heard of schools who have turned away A grades in the old system so who is to say that this won't happen again?

We are putting Grosvenor as first choice and then listing Methody, Campbell, Wellington and Inst (not sure which order yet). May also stick Sullivan on for good measure. :rotfl:

My list is similar although Campbell is our 'last resort' choice, simply because of the fees.
  • OK this thread has been looked at 9962 times already. Obviously there are a lot of people reading for updates and not just those of us who are posting every 5 minutes. What I suggest is that everyone (active posters and lurkers) email AQE and ask for further information/stats etc. Surely if they are inundated they are going to have to do something. The email address is below:

    aqeoffice1@yahoo.co.uk
  • At the moment Campbell is either our 2nd or 3rd choice. We are going again tomorrow night and will also take another look at Methody.

The fees are scary, there is no doubt about that but I will pay anything to keep my kids away from the East Belfast Secondary Schools. I hope that doesn't offend anyone but it is simply how I see things.
