I voted FR eggs too - I'd rather go without than not have FR.
Good luck with what you're doing xUpdating soon...0 -
I voted for free range eggs because we eat eggs often. At the moment if we can't afford high welfare meat, we don't buy it. Branded food we can take or leave and if fact often prefer the supermarket version. Fresh fruit is an issue for me (I have oral allergy syndrome, so can't eat it even though I want to) so I eat frozen/dried/cooked fruit, and I love spending time in the kitchen!Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650

I'd compromise on anything except Yorkshire Tea.
That way, when I've eaten all the rubbish food, I can at least have a nice cup of tea to make everything ok again. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I voted for FR eggs as I'm Ovo Vegetarian and thats where I get most of my protein from, and animal welfare is high on my priority list. If I couldnt afford them I wouldn't have them. If I'm buying dairy for my OH it's always organic. I also don't like fruit and get over my 5 a day from veggies. We get a veg box delievery so our veg is seasonal and therefore cheap.
However if I asked my other half it would definitely be meat at most main meals, he's romanian and they have a very meat based food culture. When he does get meat I try and make sure it is high quality/free range (Animal welfare again) Hope that helps, looking forward to seeing your plan weezl :TReal stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time0 -
Fruit and Veg would have to come out top
then organic beans/pulses
FR eggs (I could live on these 3 things if I had to)
Meat (incl Chicken) would come way down the list simply because I don't eat much meat and would rather have top quality meat a couple of times a week than poor quality seven days a week
Will be interested to see what you can come up with because if anyone can do this it's you Weezl. Good luck0 -
Hi Weezl
I voted nothing processed but would also only ever use free range eggs and good quality meat. I would rather eat good quality meat less often than cheaper meat more often.0 -
Hey Weezl,
Another vote for FR eggs. I love eggs for any meal so as one of my fave foods will never compromise on these.
Looks forward to your meal plan.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -
Weezl that is a very difficult choice
I think on balance though, I would have to go for branded goods, even though I usually buy on range, as the a lot of the value stuff I have tried I dont like, or it contains far too many chemicals for my liking:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
Free range eggs is my must because eggs are very useful for making more foods other than just egg things eg, baking etc so if I had to cut back suddenly I have more options for producing different types of foods which makes life much easier and tastier;)
I'm a veggie but family aren't, I only buy free range meat (and no farmed fish either) at present which they have 2-5 times a week depending on finances, but we have agreed as a family should OH be made redundant too (I was) then going meat free for a while is no problem.
Which would mean lots of healthy veggie meals (so would get at least 5 a day anyway) and if anyone was worried about the lack of vit/mins a once a day sainsburys basic multi vit could be taken as well.
Sweet things like biscuits/cakes can be made very cheaply anyway, so can yougart, sorbets etc and as for branded goods, I have never, nor would I, put any brand of anything above feeding my family healthily and ensuring any animals they consume had a healthy lifestyle themselves, ie; not caged/tethered/or feed poor quality food themselves as ultimately my family would end up eating what the animal did.
(sorry, will shut up now:o)0 -
It's quite hard to decide but I think if I had to choose just one it would be branded goods. I'm quite happy to buy value/supermarket brand for most things but there are a few things that I won't compromise on, Fairy washing-up & laundry liquid, tomato & worcestershire sauce etc.Dum Spiro Spero0
