I voted for FR eggs as that is v important to me, but I do also like fresf fruit every day so would have put that too if I could!
I love what you're doing though Weezl.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Hi Weezl
There are a few things on the list that I would HATE to do without but in order of importance......
Fresh Fruit....but only for the kids, dh and I often don't eat it as it costs a lot and we prefer to make sure the kids have it.
Branded items....There are a few things that just have to be branded. Cereal, Tea, Cofee, Marmite, Sauces......
I ALWAYS use free range eggs and organic milk but these 'could' be dropped however I would probably prefer to do without eggs than use battery farm eggs!!
Meat at most meals....however this is only really dh and if needs must then i'm sure he could drop to maybe meat at 4 meals a week if alternated:)
Sorry, possibly not very helpful xxxUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
I've got too many:
at least 1 piece fresh fruit per person per day (there's already 7 of your '5 a day' in meal plan)
free range eggs if any are used at all high quality/free range meat if any is used at all - I don't go for the top of the range stuff but wouldn't consider value/smart price
organic where possible - I would always use organic milk (and hence organic everything I make with milk i.e. yoghurt, cream cheese, buttermilk) and organic wheat (for flour) and rye flour but otherwise it is a case of looking at extra cost and making a decision based on that. nothing processed
sweet treats and puddings - I would want very few of theseAny question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

many many thanks for all the responses. I'm quite surprised! Looks like it would be best to build a plan using free range eggs, and keeping the meat content fairly high by the looks of things
I wonder if things will shift as the day goes on? Perhaps all the free range chicken peeps are up early? Perhaps your home reared chooks woke you up :rotfl:
I know lots of you are not in dire straits but I appreciate people being willing to think of their worst case scenario and what they'd sacrifice then...

Well I had to really narrow it down and I'm afraid I voted for sweet stuff! Even if it's just a biscuit or yoghurt after a meal I have to feel I've had an 'afters'!Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Fairy washing up liqiud (I have a large bottle opened on 1/12/2009 thats still at least a third full)
decent eggs(don't eat many but I can't stand wishy-washy pale aenemic eggs)
I won't buy cheap chicken either as I think its full of water, same with meat.I would rather have good meat 2-3 times a week than cheap meat 7 times a week0 -
If I had to sacrifice something to save money, I would rather eat less or even no meat before sacrificing the things in my list. (But I'm probably not the norm.)Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I voted meat at most evening meals, but fruit is high on my list too.
Unfortunatelyt we have been there and done that with the whole dropping to a small budget from a decent, comfortable budget.
will be interesting to see your meal plan & shopping list Weezlie!!xx

weezl mine would have to be good quality meat as i find if its from the butchers it can be stretched further and probably saves me money in the long run! my butchers also does a 10% discount on orders over £40 so that also helps! What's for you won't go past you0

I voted for the high quality meat one but in reality its that and free range eggs, as caz says if you buy from the butcher its better quality and usually works out cheaper too.
(I wanted to say I won't compromise on buying Yorkshire Tea though!)MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740
