Nic - very sorry about your poor pooch. They're never just pets - they are family xx

Two apple pies made, got a bag full of oranges (courtesy of FIL) to make Orange Breakfast Muffins with which I shall freeze (since I can't be trusted to just have one for brekkie :o) so that shall probably be my baking tomorrow.
Fish cooking as we speak need to peel some spuds to go with it.

Have a good evening everyone and thanks for all the recommendations re broadband - will have a look into it and get something sorted.

Hugs to Nic, I can totally understand how you're feeling.

Bitsy - the orange breakfast muffins sound delish, I make low fat banana ones but if you could share the recipe I wouldn't mind trying orange ones for a change.

I'm at OH's for the weekend. We're busy decorating ready for me moving in. We had a trip to the shops this morning to get some supplies in then we've been painting all afternoon. Boots diets seems to think I've burnt over 1100 calories painting for 4 hours....I think that might be a bit generous although I am exhausted.

We had toasties for lunch - ham and cheese with nando's hot peri-peri marinade! Sounds weird but its delish! Tea is turkey and veg curry (prefer chicken but turkey is soooo much cheaper!!). We're living in the bedroom atm due to all the decorating but I've managed to just clear enough room to get in the dining room for tea....don't fancy stinking the bedroom out with curry!

I'm busy trying to get used to wearing contact lenses. DOing ok so far but I struggle to get them out as my nails are too long!!!

    Take care everyone xxx

  • Ah gutted we lost the rugby :(

I just made fajitas for tea and it appears that one of the rings on my electric hob has broken as it blew the fuse when I turned it on. I'll have to ring my LA on Monday to try get it sorted. As sad as this sounds, it's my favourite ring on the hob! :rotfl: I have 2 fast ones and 2 normal ones, it's the bigger normal one that's broken. It's the one I use the most.

I just found out that my nan (who is in her late 70s) is definately going to australia for a month's holiday. Her sister lives there and offered to pay for her to fly out and my nan was dithering over whether she was too old for the trip! I also found out that she is taking my 12 year old cousin with her!! I'm only a slightly bit jealous! But she is the obvious choice for company as they spend lots of time together anyways, I have work and a wedding to go to whilst she would be away so I can't complain!

I can highly recommend them with Raspberry jam :p

75g unsalted butter (I just use marg)
    250g SR Flour
25g ground almonds (hmmmm can't remember if I put these in last time)
    1/2 tsp bicarb
    1 tsp baking powder
    75g caster sugar
    Zest of 1 orange
    100ml freshly squeezed OJ juice
    100ml full fat milk
    1 egg

pre heat oven to 200 degrees
melt butter and put to one side
    Mix dry ingredients together.
Whist egg, milk and juice together and add cooled butter
Mix ingredients to a batter, fill muffin cases 2/3 full and cook until golden.

Lovely :D but not so low fat :o

Missed the Ireland/ Italy match but saw most of the England/Wales one...really prefer rugby to soccer.

Thanks for recipe Bitsy....am doing roast chicken for dinner to-morrow so they will be nice to go in to help fill up the oven...might make an apple tart too.

Finished the marmalade, it is now potted and cooling, lo stew is in the freezer, as is soup that we didn't seem to finish so feeling very efficient to-day....a very unusual feeling for me.

Hugs to all, going to have an early night and hopefully get up early to-morrow, want to keep going while I am in the humour.

    Sleep well all
