wave.gifHi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 6th February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS lovelies,yawn2.gif

Long old day for me yesterday and even though I woke at my normal time and am sat here posting, I may have to give up the ghost and go back to bed if I don't hear from America before 0430
The hospital visit was Ok. We were both extremely tired upon our return so had bacon, egg and toast for dinner. When we opened the bacon misshapes it was four x 1/2 inch slices of bacon, almost like gammon, so that was a nice treat.
HShungry.gif We have decided to have our Sunday lunch today for dinner as we have more spare hours in the day, so it will be roast pork. I am going to spice up the crackling for a change of flavours. yum.gif I love crackling.. My breakfast this rainy morning is bran flakes with grapes and banana and lunch will be just some toast or something as dinner will be early.
I hope everyone's weekend starts well, and that anyone feeling poorly feels better soon. With love, light and ghug.gif for all.

Hi MSD, glad the hospital visit went OK.

Just popping in quickly before I finish the packing. We're leaving at around 10 this morning for a five hour drive to the ferry to catch the 4.30 pm boat to Portsmouth. I shall wave to you all once we're off the boat. It has been a long six months since our last visit and I've missed everyone so much.

I'll say (((hugs))) for those in need, welcome to any newbies, and Happy Birthdays, Anniversaries, and so on, where required during my absence, but I'll try and pop in when I can.

The weather has been pretty bad here so I don't mind what it's like in the UK - I just hope that spring is just around the corner for us all!

OS-wise today? Well, no cooking apart from porridge this morning! We'll have dinner on the boat; the food is usually very good - they do a lovely steak. I just have a bit of tidying up to do before we go then try and catch the cat for his first car trip to our friends who are looking after him. Luckily, they run a cattery. I'm not sure he'll appreciate being penned in for ten days but I know they'll look after him well.

Anyway, I hope life treats everyone well and I'll pop in when I can.

    Byeeeee!

    Morning

Party day here. I am holding a belated party and so have a few friends over tonight for beer and food. A friend got me 2 poly kegs of Skinners beer free, so that was great help. I shall roast a ham, do some american beans and potato salad and plenty of crisps, so should be fun.
A bit of prep work and cleaning, but worth it I guess.
No work for 4 days, so relax time and think about painting the dining room next week.
Well folks, have a good weekend

    Morning all

Dark and cold this moring. OH got up to go to work and I woke with him so am now up at stupid early o'clock on the one day I was hoping to have a lie-in!

Have been very productive the last couple of days, need to just get the uniforms that I washed last night dried and ironed then everything is up to date as far as the wash basket goes (well it is for a few hours!!). Will try this morning to de-clutter the porch and get all OH's paperwork put into some sort of order and into a storage box - have told him that I'm fed up with it all being spread over the floor, sideboard and anywhere else he decides to leave it!! He did actually agree that it would be a good idea!!

Last night dinner was in 2 shifts - DS1, DS2 and myself ate at 5pm, they had fish and chips, I had fish and jacket sweet potato and veg, OH had fish, chips and baked beans at 6.30pm. I went to the Candle party it was very pleasant just to get out for a couple of hours - had a couple of glasses of wine, was home by just after 10pm, bought a centre piece for my dining room table so not very OS but pleased with it.

Will be doing some baking/cooking this morning and the boys are having HM pizza for lunch so will need to make the pizza dough for that, have planned to have chicken curry, rice, a side dish of veg curry, naans and poppadums for dinner tonight - chicken is now defrosting as I forgot to get it out when I came in last night but as it's so early it should defrost in time. Tomorrow will be a frozen pork joint from MrT that you cook from frozen, haven't had one before so will have to see what it's like, I did get it for Xmas in case anyone visited and needed a meal I hadn't planned for etc! Need to eat some of the food out of the freezers instead of keep buying it!!

Just a note to anyone MrA has several good offers on at the moment so worth a look, cleaning products and different meat offers etc.

I only have work this week for my normal two and a half days then I have a week's annual leave half term week, so will then tackle the boys clothes cupboards and wardrobes - think there will be lots of "trying on" as they both seem to be growing quickly at the moment! I guess I will making lots of trips to the Charity shops and the tip, but will try to sell anything that I can.

Going to crack on another cup of coffee is calling!!

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning.
 Its taken me the best part of 40 mins to actually get onto this site (or anything else for that matter). Anyone recommend a decent broadband supplier as I am sick of AOL not working
Kids were awake from 5.30am. Got DD back off but DS was having none of it. When H wakes I am heading back to bed -feel very tired today.
Not sure what's on our agenda today - bit of washing, a mahoosive pile of ironing. FIL brought us a load of reduced fruit from Morrisons. H probably won't eat it as it's very battered and bruised but I wonder if I can make apple pies using dessert apples?? So perhaps a baking day today.......well we will have to see - best laid plans and all that ;)
Haven't done my usual amount of cleaning this week :o Need to get some done as I have potential new client coming on Monday after school so would like the floors to be mopped and reasonably clean.

Tea will be fish baked with toms and courgettes I think.

Diva - Hope hospital appointment went OK.

N9eav - enjoy your party and the free beer

mioliere - have a safe journey, be a long one but worth it when you see the family again x

Right need to get drinking some water. Am VERY lax in that area and I need to get to grips with it.
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

Woohoo it's the weekend & I shall do lots & lots of nothing & a little bit of housework. DW is on & WM will go on as soon as I finished on here.
Things are a little tense in the Hardup household, hubby starts his new job on Monday & is getting himself in a tiz about it, he's a right worrywort, so I shall be trying to keep him calm, getting my head bitten of at regular intervals & making sure he has everything ready for Monday morning.
Glad your hospital visit went ok MSD
Glad to see you post HJ, I was worried about you.
Hugs to Molly, Sandy & PP
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

I had huge problems with AOL before Christmas with sites either not loading at all or only partly loading. Their help was anything but helpful. Must have been with them for about 15 years. My computer is a Mac and AOL seem to have abandoned Mac users now - I was told on one occasion when I 'phoned that the problems were mine because I had a Mac!!! Anyway, enough was enough, and I have transferred to o2. Brilliant - everything is working just fine now. HTH

Thanks for that. I fine their connection is just sooooooo flakey despite me sitting in the same room as the wireless router and having an excellent signal. Will investigate O2

    Morning all,

Looks like it has been raining, but I am hoping it will clear up so that I can get the washing out.

Hester Good luck to Hubby on Monday, I am sure you know a good way to de-stress him ;):D

Bitsy, we are with Tiscali, excellent service, have been with them 4 years and have never had a problem :T

Got three loads to wash today, first load (OH work clothes) is in, lounge needs hoovering, but rest of house not too bad, its difficult to get enthused about cleaning when it all needs decorating.

OH is going to put the lights up in the conservatory today, and do the odd bits of filling, then we will collect the table and chairs that my sister has given me, at least we will have somewhere to sit and eat :T.

I need to get a small round rug to go under the table legs to stop them from marking the floor, and some of those little disk things that go on the bottom of chair legs, what are they called ??

Dinner tonight will be a cheese and mushroom omlette, with salad and bread and butter, nice and easy.

N9eav, what time shall we come :D:beer:, I am sure we will all bring a bottle and a plate of something.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx
