I always say "wireless" as well, but I'm trying to stop because it makes me feel old (er)..0

Heh, I get the incredulous looks regularly from the kids I work with when I say I don't have a TV, they have no idea what one would do in the evenings without one! They all think I am wierd for reading books and browsing the internet. Of course we sometimes watch catch up programmes and DVDs etc, so we are not totally deprived! I don't usually have the radio on as I like peace and quiet, but the few times I have listened to Radio 4 I have enjoyed it, especially the comedies.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

We do have a TV now but only watch certain programmes,so sometimes only an hour or two a night.
We had no TV in the 70s when our children were little and it was great.
We found so many other things to do a TV would of spoiled their childhood and to be honest I would of missed out on a lot of fun with my children.0 -

this is what I use, and its so much more convenient than tv! You can watch old stuff and new, when it suits you!

I dont download, I watch from the site, but my OH does DL. Sometimes it stalls, but its all pre recorded and I have RUBBISH broadband - in ScotlandTruly rubbish, and I get by just fine, and as its pre recorded, I watch what i want, when i want, as I cant get TV reception! I dont pay a licence as its pre recorded, not live stream. I think downloading is the same, its not live unless you watch it live (which i cant if I try as broadband here is so bad)

Can people please give me these sites where you can download tv progs ? I know the BBC does it, but the OH likes his soaps and theyre not on BBC. He might try it and if it works ok then we won't renew the license because thats all he watches and I dont watch tv at all.
Assuming that some people want to watch live TV online... (live requires a licence although them proving it happened would be a challenge lol ) try these which are UK freeview TV mainly ITX BBC etc too
http://www.tvcatchup.com/ the best IMO for ease of use and apparently soon to boast a PVR function (recording and pause stuff). Free use to use.
http://www.seesaw.com/ which is new and you need to ask to be invited as it's in beta testing right now...not as good as the first link for quantity, but maybe that's just for now...it's possible it may have advantages later when it's going properly so worth getting into just in case maybe ?
Be aware that if you watch most of your telly like this, you will need not to have any silly bandwidth limits set by your ISP...I do well over 200 gigs a month most of which is telly..with some ISPs that would get me into problems.
There are other services, some foreign or quirky, and some requiring a plugin like Miro http://www.getmiro.com/ which has HD content and other toys.
Some of those apps and TVcatchup etc provide radio stations too like freeview does too.
No ariel is needed for any of this it's IPTV (good search term if you wish to explore more like this ) ...and online only.
