A final update....Chester took his last trip to the vets today.

The lumps had all grown over the weekend & we had said that he was nearing the end. Today we got up & his face had doubled in size & all dropped on the side with his lumps.

OH went to the vets & they told him they could see him right away or this afternoon. He made it for this afternoon so I could go & say goodbye too.

Lots of tears were shed by us both. Chester looked up at my OH just before it all happened as if to say goodbye. He went very peacefully in our arms.

RIP Chester boy, we will miss you forever x
  • oh so sorry to hear that - but it's lovely you had time to spoil him and say goodbye to him - he was clearly very much loved. RIP little Chester!

Oh Jackomdj, I'm so sorry, poor Chester.

Well you had a little while longer than you thought, but it's jsut never long enough is it?
I'm glad you were able to be with him and say goodbye, it's a terrible thing to actually do, but he had people who loved him there at the end.

((((hugs)))) to you and the family

    RIP Chester xx
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

    Run free Chester

Jackomdj, hugs to you and your family at this very sad time.
  • Im in tears reading this thread. I lost 3 "oldies" in three years recently. They were 14, 14 and 11 and were my furbabies. It took me a long time to not cry thinking about them. I now have a little Lhasa Apso who was a rescue dog, spent the first 3 years of her life as a badly neglected breeding !!!!! in a puppy farm. Ive had her 3 years now and she is my best pal and I love her to bits.

Hugs to your family from myself and Katie XXX

So sorry, hugs to you all. I lost one last September and another just after Easter. It's taken time but I am starting to remember all the happy times and the funny things they did without crying (well sometimes, I am  now)
