Ruth - I have just had a look through your brilliant blog.....not got very far yet but loving the exploits! I will be back to it tomorrow night for a read!
Awww - thanks Nicky! We are really touched that you had a squint at the blog. Jasper sends LOTS of love and licks to you and your kids and - of course - the handsome Chester Harrier.
What a loving gesture of your child, to share with Chester her much-loved toys. That is the sign of a real, sensitive, intelligent, empathetic human heart, right there. Clearly she is a delighful child, who does you much credit.
And what a lucky, lucky dog Chester is. To have a loving home is all that anyone can ask in this world. And he has had that, and so much more. However long his life, you have nothing to reproach yourself for.
Jasper sends you an especially big, slobbery, smelly lick (Lucky you!) and a great big tail-wag!
With love,
Ruth & Jasper

jackomdj - My friend had a dog that got recurring cancers. Her dog had had several ops for cancers in her throat. I saw her at an event I was at, and she was crying, saying she thought they were going to have to have the dog put down when they got back home, as she was listless and the cancers had returned. Her dog was a Boxer who was 12, which is old for a Boxer anyway. I told her to try her with Propolis - from Bee Health or H&B sell it) - another friend who's dog had an agressive cancer had found it slowed it down and given it a new lease of life.
I didn't see them again for about 6 months and when I did, was scared to ask if she still had her dog Daisy. I needn't have worried, Daisy came bouncing out of their caravan and came out for a run with my dog who was only two at the time. They had such fun playing together.
Daisy lived for another 18 months after that.
Wouldn't hurt to try it, I give my dog 2 capsules a day.

Dollardog - thanks we will give it a try. Anything is worth a go so long as it keeps him happy & bright.
Ruth - you ar right, Katie is a lovely sharing girl, most of the time. I am so proud of both children's attitude & ethos, at our eldest daughters parent evening (only started School in Sept) her teacher said that she knows what she thinks is right or wrong & has no worries about letting others know if they are doing things that are wrong. Both of them will sit beside Chester & absentmindedly stroke him - it is lovely to see.

ONly just seen this - how terribly sad.
((hugs)) for you all - and a huge gentle pat for Chester xxxxDo not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
Well Chester is still with us.
His lumps are getting bigger & he is slowing up but still holding his own. He is going back to the vets on Wed for some more tablets & a check up.
My OH has just got a new camers so Chester is having hundreds of photo's taken of him at the moment.
Will update after the vet visit0 -
Just thought I would post a little note to send hugs to your family and Chester. We lost our beloved dog a week and a half ago so treasure every day you have with him - which I am sure you already do.0

We have taken Chester back for another vet check. They are happy with how he is, although his lumps are growing he is still eating, drinking & pooing well (the pooing could be an issue due to his medication).
He has a large lump on his tail which has started bleeding a bit (not linked to the cancer). The vet said it will probaby burst within the next few days as it is so big & full of fluid, but then it will probably heal & re-fill....but the funniest thing was she said to put sudocream on it to smake it feel a bit more comfortable for him. Never heard of that before....but we have applied "bum cream" to his tail!
He did well whilst we were away although we did notice how things had grown. Hopefully I will go on posting positive updates for a while longer. x0 -
So glad to hear that Chester is still with you and is comfortable.:T
I'm in the same situation with my old dog, he too is 14 and is now more lump than dog - but he still manages to play and enjoy life.
Here's to them both enjoying the warm sunny days :beer:Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
I'm so pleased he's still hanging in there!! Bless him.
We had to use Sudocream on our puppy's bum because he was small and unable to reach to clean himself, so to clean him up and make it better we had to use it!!
Hope you have many many many more happy days with Chester.0 -

I know what you mean about more lump than dog - that made me smile...
Our girls will point out his various lumps (& missing ear!) to most visitors & it takes longer each time they do it!!!!! Even the vet today commented on how lumpy he is!
Here is to lumpy lounging in the sun
cheers from me...
