Sorry if this has already been mentioned but there is good deal to join the National Trust at the moment. Family membership (2 adults & all their children) is £58.13 instead of £77.50 or for 1 adult & their children it is £43.88 instead of £58.50. This is effectively 12 months for the price of 9 and is based on you paying by direct debit. If you join on line you get a free picnic rug & if you do it via greasy palm there is a £10 cash back. A total bargain! So if you were wondering whether to join, now is the time to go for it.
As I've said in a previous post we make great use of our NT membership and there are always lots of family activities which keep our lot well entertained, be it crafts, treasure hunts, bug hunting, giant chess etc. Ours enjoy the history and regularly impress their teachers with their historical knowledge & enthusiasm for history. The nearest property to us is Baddesley Clinton which has a mock Priest hole for the children to hide in which is great fun (yes, I've been in it too!) We always break longer journeys with a stop at a National Trust property which you feel you can do if your entry is prepaid. Otherwise you'd feel that you had to stay all day to get your money's worth out of the admission fee. in short for a family of 6 our membership has been very well worth the money. Check out their web site to see what events & activities are on offer: www. nationaltrust.org.uk0 -

Not free, but a lot cheaper. Check out the local pool/leisure centre and see what bulk deals they have. We can buy 12 or 24 swims at a much lower rate than usual. One card of 24 gets my two into the pool 12 times at about 30 p off per child per swim. We always take our own drinks and snacks for afterwards, and some mouldy bread if we have it to feed the ducks in the park on the way home.0

I have just compiled an ebook entitled "Days Out With The Kids In London" and although not everything listed is free or even cheap, many of the featured listings are, including parks, farms, some museums, centres and galleries, and also festivals/events. I'd be happy to email anyone a copy (for free), just pm me.0

Hi
Local residents get 20% ticket prices at Blackpool Zoo.
I don't know the full details of it as I've seen nothing in writing, I don't think they advertise it but I was just about to pay yesterday when I asked and imediately had the 20% knocked off the price.
Hope its useful to someone

Please don't feed mouldy bread to ducks, or any other birds for that matter. The mould is incredibly poisonous, and will cause botulism, a fatal condition. Stale, yes, mouldy, no.0 -
It's Folk Week time again. Lots of free stuff to entertain all, not just Morris Dancers, which my son finds hilarious. Free pub gigs and childrens club at the bandstand. Donations gratefully recieved. Starts Friday, come over to the Planet Thanet and have some fun!:j0
