Don't know of anyone else has posted this before, but it's certainly worth repeating!
We visited Legoland on Monday and had a great day, despite a bit of rain. However, the best bit of the experience for me was the price we paid for the tickets! We got the tickets from BuyaGift.co.uk for only £16.50 each for children and £19.50 for adults, links here:
http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Product/Id/1660/Name/LEGOLAND_Child_Discount_Ticket
http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Product/Id/1658/Name/LEGOLAND_Adult_Discount_Ticket
This worked out at a huge discount on either the gate price or internet price. The only restrictions were that they are only valid until 8 Sept 07 and not valid on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Unfortunately, the discount seems to have changed as when we booked we there was a single ticket for both adults or children at £16.50.
One word of caution - make sure you allow plenty time for the tickets to be printed and posted. We bought them in the website on a Tuesday and they were posted through our door on Friday.
They also sell cheap tickets for:
Madame Tussauds for £10
Alton Towers from £16
Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo from £16
Thorpe Park from £16
and other adventure-type stuff like tank driving
Have fun!0 -
2 ideas for you - one of which is free.
Eurostar have special offer £55 return to Lille or £59 to Paris - great day out especially Lille where the town is very close to station.
Sign up to Applause Store and get invited to apply for free tickets to TV programmes. Not all are available to under 18s but quite a few are - not bad for free and if it is raining....Everything you need is out there - you just need to ask..................:A0 -
There are a lot of projects at the volunteer advice centre that I'm able to take the kids along for too. e.g. beach cleaning, outdoor surveys, woodland conservation schemes etc.
Also with these the volunteer service either provides transport or pays for it plus any other expenses. If you always do what you've always done you'll always get what you've always got.
culturejammer: you know what pennies are AWESOME for?
culturejammer: throwing at cats
culturejammer: it only costs a single penny
culturejammer: and they'll either chase it, or get hit by it and look peed off
culturejammer: i now use that system to value prices of things
culturejammer: for example, a thirty dollar game has to be at least as awesome as three thousand catpennies0 -

Thanks to all for such brilliant ideas. I wish I could show them to a lady I overheard on a bus saying 'It's going to be 6 weeks of hell' -presumably referring to the school holidays.
Last summer my friend bought a Cookery book, the Jamie school dinners one and the kids choose and cook a meal from it twice a week. They also dug a vegetable patch out of part of their lawn as she thought thy were spending too much time on the sofa watching tele.
Living by the sea, I've kept lots of kids occupied with (free) crafts based on shells and pebbles etc, we've made shell ornaments and plaques, decorated plant pots and vases, painted pebbles, made mobiles from hole-y shells and stones, edged flower borders and even sprayed shells gold and strung them ready for Xmas decs. Big shells make soap dishes, or candle or tea-light holders. I'm always sad to see kids expecting to be able to spend spend spend at beach kiosks etc - there's just so much fun to be had with a bucket and spade and an eye for these free craft materials to remind you of your holidays for the rest of the year.0 -
I have just been in my local blockbusters to rent the kids a DVD, there is a offer where you pay 25p for the first night and then keep it for up to a week and pay the remaining balance when you return, which again is only 25p a night. FANTASTIC, all the top kids titles at ony 25p a night!!!0
