There's a voucher in today's Express for one free game of bowling at Megabowl or Tenpin, valid for up to 4 people. Voucher is valid all day Sunday - Friday until 30th September.
Hope this helps someone.

If anyone visits the new forest we found a great place in fordingbridge, (its really easy to find, head for the sandy balls campsite) it has a lovely stream that at its deepest part comes to the kids waist. They can wade along it for quite a way and the waters really clear, you can even catch little fish there. The kids area also includes paddling pool, sandpit, several climbing frames, swings and roundabout. There are toilets on site and a picnic area, all free. Best on a warm dayThis time next year Rodney...0

we pick elderberries and make - dare i say it- wine
i have picked berries with my own for years and they love it and also with a small group of kids when i childminded. Then we pick sloes from the blackthorn after the first frost - now im wishing the summer away.- cant beat home made sloe gin at christmas.
back to the here and now - it will only be a few weeks until the blackberries are ready. This is the best of all, a nice and cheap activity, find some brambles and pick wide blackberries - great with homemade yoghurt for breakfast.
cheers
Lou
A word of warning - do it in plastic and not glass bottles. The drink goes all fizzy (it's meant to) and produces a lot of gas. Glass bottles cannot cope with the pressure and explode (my grandpa made this mistake, but luckily they were stored outside). Plastic bottles just stretch outwards a bit. You have been warned!
On a nicer note, if you live in Bristol then one of the best places to pick elderflowers & subsequently elderberries is up on the Downs.
You can also make crabapple and rowan jelly (although neither are quite ripe yet, but will be soon). http://www.guardian.co.uk/weekend/story/0,,1926367,00.html0 -
Another nice thing to do is go to a city farm. Nearly all big cities have one, and some have several (Bristol has four). Go to http://www.farmgarden.org.uk/ to find one near you.
Almost all city farms are free to visit, but a donation would be very, very nice. I work on one where we ask for a £1 per adult and 50p per child donation, and we are VERY strapped for cash, to the point where lack of donations can lead to a decrease in animal welfare - i.e. less bedding & so on.
I work at Windmill Hill City Farm in Bedminster, Bristol, and we have a pig, two goats, a ram, 6 ewes and 6 lambs (although some are almost full grown now), as well as chickens, ducks and geese, and chicks and ducklings. Some larger farms (such as Hartcliffe and Gloucester) also have cattle. Attached to the site there are also allotments which you can wander round, an adult education centre and free adventure playground.
You can also often get them a place volunteering. At Windmill Hill we have a program where 8 - 16yo can come from 8.30 to 11am every saturday, and generally muck out, feed, mix feed, collect eggs and the rest of it, but be warned, it is bloody hard work and not all about stroking animals (although we do get to do that too)
