    I wouldn't go near Virgin . The customer service is appauling, and the billing system is wrong more often than not .

    What do your current line stats for O2 show? Are you capable of getting more?

    The line stats give you all the information about your connection. The important parts are your line attenuation, your sync speed and your noise margin. Your line attenuation will tell you what the maximum speed you could get for your distance from the exchange - this could then be compared to what you are getting to see if it's correct or if there is a problem with your internal wiring which could be causing your speed to be much less.

    Follow instructions here to get them;

    I've decided to dump Virgin cable and have signed up with O2 Standard and the speeds look pretty good so far.

    Noise Margin: 4.5 dB
    Bandwidth: 8797 kbps
    Attenuation: 41.0 dB
    Power: 19.0 dBm
    Just got in for the £75 from Quidco. :beer:

    Virgin media is crap! ive been with them for 2 whole years and had nothing but hassle over the couple of weeks since new years eve,

    i was told my connection is 15.24 a month yet last month i paid 44.89 for broadband, and half the time the connection is really naff! i get alot of page cannot be displayed or some rubish online,

    sorry for the rant anyway

    I have been with Virgin since they were NTL. Have only had the occasional problem with dropping speeds. It happens very occasionally. The only thing I don't like about them is getting though to the Indian call centres when there is a problem.
