I went to Ottakars today with my kids to spend their birthday booktokens and on leaving the store, the alarm went off. The sales assistant who had served me came hurrying across and apologised, I smiled and said that these things happen, it was no problem.
He took the bag of books back to the counter, and rubbed all the books over the deactivation thingy <--- technical term, I'm all about the jargon!!
We had a brief chat about how modern technology sometimes failed while he was deactivating the nine books (all on 3 for 2, my kids are good moneysavers) that we'd bought.
Then he carried the bag for me to the exit to check that the alarm didn't go off again.
No embarrassment, no stress, a couple of minutes delay which is no inconvenience at all in the grand scheme of things, smiles all round and a nice chat which probably brightened both of our days.
It's all about how you react to a situation, I think.0 -

Thank youthis is how most people react to a mistake or a failure in the tag deactivating. No more stressful than an item in the supermarket not scanning first or second time. No big drama, just one of those things.

I recently had a tag left on at asda, took the item back next time I shopped, got a very nice apology, no problem.
Sometimes these things do happen and I know when this happened to my mum, who was a carer so couldn't get out much, she rang the store and they sent a de-tagged item and a member of staff to collect the clothes. Excellent customer care in my book.0
