  • I agree that the bank were in the wrong for not cancelling the overdraft when you requested it to be, and for this I would complain. However as others have said, if they had carried out your instruction, the money would still have come out pushing you into an unauthorised overdraft, which probably carries higher interests rates than the agreed overdraft. You need to take responsibility for checking your funds in future, especially if the things you are purchasing amount to that much more than your available funds. And as for compensation I dont think any is warranted, if anything your charges will probably be less than they should have been, due to the difference in the authorised/unauthorised interest rates

    Now this is where you lost me. I understand the concept. I'm sure you do, but sadly I fear the vast majority of whingers in this part of the forum (and many other parts too) just don't get it.
